Support Technician (Starship) - Temporary

SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP) - TEMPORARY
Support Technicians will assist Starship and Super Heavy production operations at the SpaceX South Texas build site in Brownsville, TX, supporting assembly, material handling, fabrication, troubleshooting, and daily tasks to accelerate multiplanetary vehicle builds. Under the guidance of experienced production teams, you'll contribute to workspace organization and process improvements in fast-paced, high-reliability environments. Successful participants may convert to full-time roles, joining an elite crew to drive efficient production of groundbreaking spacecraft.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support daily Starship and Super Heavy production operations by assisting with assembly, material handling, and general fabrication tasks
- Team up with technicians to follow work instructions, move parts, and complete daily tasks
- Modify repair, assemble, and install launch vehicles
- Perform basic troubleshooting for production line issues and workspace inefficiencies to reduce downtime
- Maintain workplace safety and compliance by conducting routine inspections, using PPE correctly, and following SpaceX policies
- Assist with shift handoffs, end-of-day cleanup, and workspace organization
- Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
- Effectively communicate with management/supervisors, engineering staff and planners to achieve build efficiency
- Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per specification
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner
- Install and assemble custom and off-the-shelf tooling and machinery for building primary tank structure
- Setup of safety equipment and work platforms at elevation
- Operate general shop equipment and vehicles (forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a temporary position with SpaceX for the duration stated, subject to change with minimal notice based on business needs. Temporary employees who successfully complete the assignment may be eligible for conversion to full-time roles.
- LENGTH OF POSITION: 3 months
- LOCATION: Brownsville, TX
- SHIFT: Must be available for all shifts (day shift, 6 AM - 6 PM or night shift, 6 PM - 6 AM), overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in a production, manufacturing, or construction environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the space exploration industry, military or other high-reliability operating environment
- Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and general tooling)
- Formalized mechanical training, skilled in hand and power tool usage
- A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
- Knowledge of all types of bore scope inspection equipment
- Knowledge of different fittings such as NPT and A/N
- Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of hazardous systems - cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, pyrophoric
- Knowledge of high pressure system design and handling
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 25lbs (unassisted)
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be able to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet), including the use of ladders
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
