Tax Manager

Due to our continuing international growth, we are seeking a highly motivated International Tax Manager who will serve as a key member of the Toast Global Tax Team. This is an individual contributor role, based in Dublin, Ireland. The International Tax Manager will be responsible for advising on VAT/GST/HST indirect tax matters, ensuring Toast's compliance with indirect and direct tax laws and filing obligations in countries outside of the US, and assisting with Irish R&D and other incentive projects based on Toast's international operations.
Location: Hybrid Dublin, Ireland; in the office once a week
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Manage and support the indirect tax compliance process (VAT/GST returns) for Toast’s international operations, including the preparation and review of work papers, tax return filing, and payment reconciliation
- Monitor and manage indirect tax compliance to ensure Toast is compliant with local laws and policies to prevent potential issues with tax audits and regulatory bodies
- Manage account and reconciliations and required entries for all international indirect tax accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis as set forth by the basis
- Lead audits and inquiries regarding international indirect tax, including managing the relationship with local tax authorities and external advisors
- Manage Toast’s Ireland R&D tax credit studies and other incentive projects
- Assist the US Tax team in the preparation of income tax provision calculations (including deferred tax provisions) and coordinate the regional income tax provision reporting for the EMEA region.
- Provide input for tax disclosures in the financial statements for the EMEA region.
- Manage income tax and other tax payments (e.g., transfer taxes, and duties) for the legal entities in the region.
- Assist with ongoing maintenance of NetSuite ERP and Vertex tax engine for international indirect taxes
- Proactively identify weaknesses in current processes and procedures relating to indirect tax matters and identify solutions including automation so that issues are resolved promptly
- Work closely with the other cross-functional partners providing all required tax support, including coordinating and working with external advisors and financial auditors as needed
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- A minimum of 5-6+ years of corporate direct and indirect tax experience. Experience as an in-house tax manager in the regional tax department of a multinational group is a must. Big4 experience is a plus.
- Significant experience in indirect tax compliance & governance and audit management
- Irish R&D tax credit documentation experience
- Solid understanding of EMEA income tax and transfer pricing principles and experience in quarterly income tax accounting, reporting, and disclosures
- Knowledge of Irish Pillar 2 rules and OECD Pillar 2 guidance
- Good understanding of US tax regulations
