Team Lead - Connectivity Team
As a Team Lead for the Connectivity team working on a mixture of networking technologies such as; AWS CloudWan, AWS Transit GWs, AWS and On-prem Network Firewalls, Layer 3 switching, VPNs etc.., you will be responsible for leading a group of skilled engineers and technicians who are focused on managing and optimizing critical infrastructure components of an organization's technology stack. This includes overseeing the team's day-to-day operations, providing technical guidance, and ensuring that the team's objectives align with the organization's overall goals.
Your technical expertise, leadership skills, and collaborative mindset will be essential in driving the team forward.
A taster of what you will be involved with- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team and introduce automation where possible to increase velocity.
- Responsible for managing and mentoring a team of engineers and technicians, including; providing performance feedback, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Along with the Product Manager, you will also be responsible for resource planning, workload allocation, and ensuring that team members have the necessary skills and tools to perform their duties effectively while fostering a JIRA flow for efficiency.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders, such as Architects, DevOps, security teams, and application developers, to ensure seamless integration and operation
- New Technologies: As a team lead, you are expected to stay up to date with new technologies and keep the team engaged with new technologies to enhance our services.
- Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Along with Architect/Tech leads. You are expected to own and lead the resolution of complex network issues and incidents by developing and implementing incident response plans.
- As a team lead you will be responsible to ensure Infrastructure-as-code practices are being followed while supporting company’s vision to transition from On premise workload to Cloud native workloads. You are also expected to have hands one practises to support your team and better evaluate estimations.
- Ensure that the relevant network documentation is created and kept up to date.
- Handle compliance, audit requests and provide the required information in time.
- Ensure that the team members are trained, motived, and provide high quality work.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers together with the supplier managers.
- Cater for any capacity planning forecasts needed within the connectivity domain together with product owners/Architects
You will be expected to form part of a 24/7 on call roster to support your engineering team during out of office incidents calls.
You're good at- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, technical degree beneficial.
- AWS Cloud practitioner or equivalent would be beneficial
- 3+ years’ experience with most of the following technologies:
- AWS networking services Palo Alto or Cisco/Arista
- VPN solutions, BGP, Terraform, Git
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers and technicians, including resource planning, workload allocation, performance feedback, and mentoring.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of best practices in IT operations, such as ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and DevOps principles.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and best practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS recommended) and their networking services.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to define project goals, set timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, vendors, and partners
