We are looking for a Team Lead, Data Engineering (all genders) to join us in Berlin!

In your role as a Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data-driven educational products. Your work will directly contribute to the learning journey of millions of users worldwide. You will take good care of the Learner and Content technical domain and corresponding engineering team. The Learner Data Model team is at the heart of Babbel, developing the unified learner profile and the services for analytical and in-app usage to create personalized experiences for learners! Topics include event-driven microservice architecture, working with data marts, building SDK and integrations. 

You will:

• Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop high-quality data pipelines and infrastructure for personalization features 
• Foster both team growth and individual development, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement
• Collaborate with product managers to drive technical discovery and delivery of innovative features and microservices
• Ensure the integrity, compliance, and security of the team's outputs by implementing best practices
• Mentor team members on communication and engineering aspects, identify and address gaps in team capabilities and performance
• Optimize agile methodologies and engineering excellence to enhance development efficiency and team dynamics
• Build and nurture a diverse and inclusive team environment, valuing every member's contribution

You have: 

• Expertise in data engineering with 5+ years in software development, including Python, SQL, and familiarity with cloud services
• Experience managing engineering teams for at least 2 years, with a focus on mentorship and leadership
• Experience in test automation and building a data observability and quality control solutions 
• Proficiency in agile methodologies, adapting processes to suit project needs and team dynamics
• Skill in effective communication and collaboration across teams and disciplines
• Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within your team
• Eagerness for continuous learning, staying updated with industry trends and exploring new tools and techniques
