Therefore, we're looking for a Technical Documentation Lead to own our docs like a product: strategic, measurable, and continuously evolving.
Key Tasks and DeliverablesOwn Documentation Strategy: Drive the roadmap, KPIs, and success metrics. Treat documentation as a first-class citizen in our product stack.
Craft Exceptional Developer Content: Build clear, engaging docs that cover installation, configuration, APIs, tutorials, and real-world use cases. Your writing will empower users from novice to expert.
Write Real Code, Not Just Examples: Create working, tested code snippets in languages like JavaScript, Go, PHP, and more. Automate correctness checks to keep examples accurate over time.
Make Complex Concepts Click: Use diagrams, visuals, and flowcharts to bring clarity to tough topics. Collaborate with designers to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
Champion Security Best Practices: Guide users through secure implementation of Ory’s solutions with practical, easy-to-follow examples and documentation.
Measure and Iterate: Use analytics, surveys, and user feedback to continuously improve structure, clarity, and findability. Keep refining based on real data.
Drive Discoverability: Architect metadata, taxonomy, and search to help users find what they need—fast. Define documentation standards for the whole team.
Proven Technical Writing Experience: You’ve built and scaled developer documentation for complex software systems, and you know how to align content with product milestones.
Strong Engineering Foundation: You can write high-quality, reproducible code and understand the developer mindset.
Security & IAM Knowledge: Concepts like OAuth2, identity protocols, and secure authentication are familiar—and you can explain them clearly.
Fluency in Docs Tools: You’ve worked with tools like Docusaurus, React, OpenAPI, GitHub, Playwright, and documentation-specific analytics platforms.
Excellent Written English: Your writing is sharp, inclusive, and tailored to technical audiences.
Future-Focused Mindset: You’re excited to experiment with new tools, automation, and workflows that improve the docs experience over time.
Familiarity with the Diátaxis documentation framework
Experience in OSS or developer tooling environments
Strong opinions about good documentation UX
