The Pure Storage Technical Writing team is seeking a technical writing professional who is looking for an opportunity to break into a top technology company. The right candidate for the job is creative, proficient at writing, ready to learn, and eager to solve real customer problems. To excel in this role, you must be self-motivated, highly organized, and good at working in a team-oriented environment. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Become a product expert. Get to know all the ins and outs of the product. Be able to use Pure Storage technology like a pro.
  • Embed yourself with product teams, development engineering, and QA so you can independently obtain information and solve problems.
  • Use a cloud-based DITA authoring tool to create content.
  • Write CLI, GUI, and REST API documentation for system administrators and developers, taking full responsibility for an assigned set of software documents, including user guides and man pages.
  • Write release notes on a monthly cadence.
  • Get to know your user and craft content that solves their problems and enhances their experience.
  • Develop a career path at Pure that builds your knowledge and expands your horizons.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • Excellent technical writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Openness to learning new technical tools.
  • Ownership and hands-on mentality.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and images.
  • Experience writing in accord with a style guide.
  • Experience working in a DITA environment, including CMS and authoring tools.
  • A keen eye for detail. Catch errors in the UI, peer edits, and in your own work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Be able to forge relationships and work collaboratively with fellow writers, software engineers, program managers, QA engineers, and support personnel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills: Be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and deliver content in a timely manner, sometimes under tight deadlines.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of software technical writing experience.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, UNIX/Linux, REST APIs, and/or Git.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence (Wiki).
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative (Agile) environment.
  • Experience working independently in a cross-functional team setting.
  • Writing samples and participation in a writing test required for consideration.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with programming or scripting is a strong plus. 
  • You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 4 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.

The annual base salary range is: $143,000 – $215,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. 

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
