Your role and your team:  

We're looking for an organized Tool Manager to join our Equipment Engineering team. The Tool Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management of all hand tools used in our manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with EASA regulations and standards. This role involves maintaining tool inventory, coordinating maintenance, calibration, and repairs, implementing tracking systems, and establishing processes for hand tools, including requests and distribution to production operators. As the main focal point for tool management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our aircraft production while overseeing the effective management of our physical tool shop. 

Your Day to Day: 

  • Procurement and Reordering: Assess production needs, identify required tools, and coordinate tool procurement. Reorder supplies to maintain adequate tool stock levels and support uninterrupted production. 
  • Hand Tool Processes: Develop and establish processes for all aspects related to hand tools. This includes creating guidelines for tool requests, managing the distribution of tools to production operators, and establishing efficient procedures for tool returns and replacements. 
  • Tool Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment, including tracking quantities, locations, and conditions, while adhering to aerospace documentation and record-keeping standards.
  • Tool Maintenance, Calibration and Repairs: Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repairs of tools to ensure optimal functionality, longevity, and safe usage, in compliance with EASA and aerospace safety regulations.
  • Tool Tracking and Security: Implement and manage a system for tracking the movement of tools within the production facility, ensuring proper tool usage, preventing loss, and enhancing security.
  • Tool Shop Management: Oversee the operation and management of the physical tool shop, ensuring its efficient functioning and organization.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to production team members on the proper use and handling of tools, emphasizing safety protocols and best practices according to workplace safety regulations.  

Your Profile  

  • Technical apprenticeship or equivalent technical education is the minimum requirement. 
  • Additional experience or education in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering is a plus. 
  • Experience in tool management or a related field, ideally within an aerospace manufacturing environment is desirable.  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage tool inventory and maintenance schedules. 
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to tools and equipment, specific to aerospace and EASA regulations.
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices, calibration, and servicing of tools.
  • Proficiency in using asset management software or tools like IBM Maximo is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with production teams, vendors, and other stakeholders, with fluency in English and basic German skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to lead and motivate others effectively.
