MongoDB is seeking a UI Engineer to join the Design Systems Team. You will be joining a team of cross-functional designers and engineers focused on helping the company scale our product ecosystem, and the fast-evolving and growing teams behind them. We create libraries and guidelines that engineers and designers across MongoDB use to build consistent, accessible, and delightful experiences.

We’re seeking an engineer to help take the Design Systems engineering team to the next level, strengthening and enhancing the frontend experience for both our valued customers and the talented engineers at MongoDB.

This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely in the US.

• Has worked on complex, production-ready web applications
• Deeply understands JavaScript and is familiar with modern JavaScript APIs and syntax
• Is experienced with building highly-interactive applications using React
• Has a robust understanding of HTML and CSS core concepts and best practices
• Is knowledgeable about a wide range of web and internet technologies
• Has a passion for creating resilient, scalable, and maintainable software
• Is excited to improve the experiences of our users, both internal and external
• Is meticulous in attention to detail, especially when working with design specifications

• You are a systems thinker and can anticipate the potential downstream effects of changes, big and small
• You’ve built for developer-centric products in the past
• You’re experienced in configuring and debugging frontend technologies and tooling. Examples include: TypeScript, Webpack, Rollup, Emotion CSS, Jest, React Testing Library, Chromatic 
• You care deeply about creating and shipping accessible products, and have experience implementing a11y best practices in code

• Push our design system to the forefront of modern best practices
• Build React components and developer-friendly APIs that will be used by nearly every frontend engineer within MongoDB 
• Participate in peer code reviews, offering mentorship and guidance to teammates
• Write, maintain, test, and document new and existing components and tools
• Help craft the user experience of MongoDB customers through component development
• Integrate with our existing systems and develop solutions that improve the front-end ecosystem at MongoDB from within
• Own and direct change that enables your fellow engineers to be successful with their front-end focused work       
• Engage cross-functionally with teams to ensure the seamless integration of the design system across all products, maximizing its impact
• Work with some of the best and brightest engineers in the industry who thrive on collaboration, technical excellence, and mutual respect
