We're looking for a User Researcherto help us deliver impactful research to drive user experiences that truly empower our customers. You’ll be working on a diverse set of UX problems, developing and executing on research initiatives to support user-centered solutions. You will also help maintain our research infrastructure that enables our researcher and people outside our team to conduct, interpret and access research in a democratized fashion. While working remotely or in a hybrid work arrangement, a blend of virtual (in accordance with Hootsuite’s distributed workforce strategy), and in Hootsuite’s office, you will report to the Manager, Campaign Strategy.    

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Hootsuite users and leverage insights to ensure strategic alignment to business objectives   
  • Lead medium-scale qualitative and quantitative research studies with minimal supervision, developing research plans, selecting appropriate research methods, recruiting participants, conducting studies, synthesizing data into meaningful insights, and socializing them throughout the organization
  • Build a close, collaborative relationship with relevant stakeholders, engaging them throughout the entire research process, from defining objectives and designing research instruments to attending sessions and engaging with research insights 
  • Develop a deep understanding of existing research, active projects, and upcoming research needs, to share knowledge and updates to stakeholders
  • Help maintain our research infrastructure and documentation, which includes our shared folders, research repository, tagging taxonomy, templates, Slack channel, and more
  • Support stakeholders in Product and Marketing in recruiting, screening, and compensating participants for moderated research 
  • Ensure research findings are shared and accessible, identify new ways to level up our research practice and engage the organization

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Some practical or relevant experience as a user researcher, market researcher or analyst
  • A strong portfolio comprised of projects which demonstrate impactful research insights with clear actionable outcomes to moderately complex problems
  • Experience conducting moderated and unmoderated qualitative research and surveys
  • Ability to scope studies appropriately, honing key objectives and selecting appropriate methods 
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with designers, product managers and other researchers 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to structure research findings into a clear, compelling narrative, and present your own work
  • Experience operating confidently using existing processes
  • Ability to recognize when there is a breakdown or inefficiency in operations and propose improvements
  • Ability to operate with some degree of ambiguity, listen attentively, ask questions for clarification and understanding, and collaborate effectively to bring more clarity
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to build solid relationships and interact with stakeholders at various levels
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail
