Position Overview:This role will be responsible for supporting Responsible Investment (ESG / Sustainability) activity working with StepStone Infrastructure’s local and international team in advising clients on investments in infrastructure and associated real asset sectors globally. The role sits within the investment team and works hand-in-hand with investment professionals, asset managers, GP investors and portfolio company leadership and will require communication, analytical, and problem solving skills. The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of sustainability concepts and issues as well as investment and/or asset management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support investment teams on Responsible Investment, including engaging on ESG risks and opportunities during due diligence and post-investment
  • Strong client interaction skills – ability to interact with clients and prepare advisory materials as required
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners including managers and relevant industry bodies
  • Strong communication, including preparing and presenting IC papers, LP reports, senior client memos
  • Develop RI-related materials, including customized presentations for investor meetings, RFP responses, ESG reporting, and legal documentation
  • Ability to construct an argument around the impact of sustainability considerations on investment decisions and effectively communicate that argument, both verbally and in written materials; be able to defend your position in a team environment, including to clients and the Investment Committee
  • Ability to undertake research regarding, and diligence of, potential sustainability considerations impacting investment opportunities and sectors, including primary funds, secondaries, co-investments and direct investments
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to manage financial models, analyze financial statements and financial forecasts, and understand discounted cash flow analysis
  • Monitor global Responsible Investment trends and emerging best practices (e.g., industry and regulatory updates etc.), providing insights to leadership and identifying and executing on enhancements to the firm’s practices

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 6-10 years of experience in investment management, Investment Banking, project finance advisory, transaction services, or equivalent with some relevant experience in Responsible Investment (ESG / Sustainability)
  • Relevant Responsible Investment and buyside / asset management experience at a FoF or GP would be considered directly transferable
  • Transaction experience — Asset management, M&A, financings, or diligence processes with clear deal exposure
  • Ability to produce high-quality written content in business English
  • Self-starter, eager to learn and desire to grow within the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced global team environment with an ability to manage changing and competing priorities

  • Promote and demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Evidence of ESG certification (e.g. CFA Sustainable Investing, IFRS / SASB FSA credential) is a plus, but not required
