Role Summary 

The VP, CMO Operations managed the strategy and day to day operations for the global Marketing organization, serving as the strategic right-hand and trusted advisor to the CMO. This leadership role is the architect and steward of the entire marketing ecosystem to ensure operational rigor and maximum impact on the company's growth and long-term growth objectives.

As a leader at Okta, you will ensure Marketing's operational engine supports our rapidly expanding product portfolio and global scale, accelerating customers’ journey to modern and translate corporate strategy into a scalable, measurable marketing operating model.

Core Responsibilities Strategic Planning, Financial Governance, & Executive Cadence
  • Architect and govern the annual Marketing Business Planning cycle, including multi-year budget forecasting, strategic resource deployment, and collaborate with Marketing Strategy & Operations on formal goal setting (OKRs) aligned to corporate revenue targets. 
  • Serve as the CMO's Chief of Staff, managing the executive cadence, including Board-of-Directors preparation and leading high-stakes, cross-functional strategic initiatives that require executive oversight.
  • Translate the CMO’s vision and high level strategy into actionable initiatives, driving organizational strategy and organizational design efforts, ensuring operational excellence and flawless execution
  • Build trust and alignment across stakeholders, acting as the CMO’s proxy when needed. Act as a liaison to other departments (e.g., Sales, Product, Technology, Finance, Legal, People) to ensure marketing initiatives are integrated and aligned with company-wide goals.
  • Design, champion, and embed high-impact team rituals that actively foster employee engagement and ensure a collaborative, healthy working environment.
Operating Model, GTM Execution, & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Define the global marketing operating model, establishing governance for all critical process hand-offs (e.g., campaign execution, lead lifecycle) to standardize and maximize leverage across all teams.
  • Establish and maintain executive-level alignment with Sales, Product, and RevOps, serving as the Marketing liaison responsible for end-to-end Go-to-Market (GTM) execution integrity.
  • Drive organizational design and transformation projects to optimize the structure, skills, and maturity of the global Marketing team.
  • Run key marketing programs for professional development and enrichment. 
  • Design and run the operating rhythm for the MLT, including weekly staff meetings, monthly all hands, QBRs, and annual offsites. This includes agenda development, content preparation, decision tracking, and driving all follow-up actions to closure
  • Identify, design, and implement scalable processes and governance models within the Marketing org to improve efficiency, velocity, and quality of work
  • Drive the Marketing VMT (Vision, Methods, and Targets) development, ensuring all methods are clearly defined, resourced, and cascaded down through the organization to align with company VMT. Designing the governance model for tracking VMT progress, identifying variances, and driving discussions and decisions within the MLT and senior company leadership 
Performance Measurement & MarTech Strategy
  • Collaborate deeply with Finance and centralized Marketing Strategy & Ops  to provide a unified, Board-level view of Marketing ROI, pipeline generation, CAC, and CLV.
  • Provide strategic oversight and roadmapping for the entire Marketing Technology (MarTech) portfolio, ensuring the data and technology infrastructure is scalable, future-proof, and compliant with global regulations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Strategy & Operations to define the strategic measurement framework and executive reporting requirements. Partner with the team, who is responsible for platform build and data integrity, to deliver executive-level dashboards that provide clear, timely insights on ROI and business impact.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 3+ years in an executive-level Marketing Operations or Chief of Staff role in a public, global B2B SaaS company.
  • Demonstrated success operating within the Identity, Security, or Cloud Infrastructure sector.
  • Experience as a senior leader in other facets of marketing–PMM, demand gen, digital etc. 
  • Proven ability to architect, manage, and govern multi-million-dollar marketing budgets and technology investments, coupled with expertise in advanced analytics and financial discipline (MBA or equivalent Master’s degree preferred).
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and high-stakes, cross-functional consensus-building skills among executives from diverse functions (Finance, Sales, Product).

Furthermore, all end-to-end GTM processes are friction-free, fully instrumented, and governed by executive-level SLAs across Marketing, Sales, and RevOps, leading to continuous improvement in key pipeline metrics.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in San Francisco Bay Area. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $279,000—$419,000 USD
