Vice President of Identity and Access Management

The Vice President of Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a vital member of the Security leadership team. In this position, you'll lead our efforts to manage digital identities and access to resources securely and efficiently. You'll work closely with teams across the organization to ensure that our IAM strategies align with our business goals, regulatory requirements, and the latest cybersecurity best practices.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving IAM policies, technologies, and processes. As a strategic advisor, you'll provide insights and recommendations on emerging IAM trends, threats, and opportunities. Your leadership and expertise will drive our cybersecurity resilience and support our growth initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

Identity and Access Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive IAM strategies, policies, and procedures that align with Okta’'s business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Lead a team of skilled IAM professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the successful execution of IAM initiatives and projects.
  • Oversee IAM program design, implementation, and operations, including identity lifecycle management, authentication, access controls, identity governance and privileged access management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Product and Engineering teams to integrate IAM solutions seamlessly into business processes and mitigate security risks effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IAM capabilities, streamline workflows, optimize resource utilization, and ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Monitor IAM performance metrics, conduct regular assessments, and generate insightful reports to communicate key findings, trends, and recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead efforts to ensure that our company is effectively utilizing our own technology, serving as a subject matter expert on our products and solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product, to develop strategies for showcasing ourselves as a best-in-class example for customers.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to understand the latest features, updates, and capabilities of our technology solutions and translate them into compelling use cases and success stories.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling content, case studies, and demonstrations that showcase our technology in action and highlight its value proposition to customers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging IAM trends, technologies, threats, and regulatory requirements, and proactively recommend strategies and solutions to strengthen the organization's security posture.
  • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and networking events to promote thought leadership, share best practices, establish strategic partnerships, and stay connected with the latest developments in the IAM landscape.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Okta Certified Administrator) is a plus.
    • Proven experience (10+ years) working with IAM solutions in a complex enterprise environment. Prior hands-on experience with Okta products is desirable but not necessary.
    • Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts, including user provisioning, authentication protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth), directory services, and security best practices.
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within scope, budget, and quality standards.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitate meetings, and build consensus.
    • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
    • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation, and collaboration in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.     The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$277,000—$415,000 USD The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $310,000—$466,000 USD
