VP. Commerce Strategy

Location: This position is remote within Canada.

This role is for a world-class strategist to help shape the future of digital commerce. Commerce at Huge sits at the intersection of our crafts - bringing together creative, data, and technology to define, build and deliver commerce programs for some of the world’s best brands.

You will bring together an understanding of market needs, deep experience with client needs and challenges, and commercial thinking to develop differentiated commerce offerings aligned to Huge’s product strategy. Additionally, you’ll support clients as they transform their digital commerce strategies across owned and third party channels. This is a highly visible role, with opportunities for public speaking, thought leadership, and partnering directly with client executives and with Huge leadership.

In addition you’ll support growth through new business pursuits, support for commerce thought leadership, and support for key strategic partners. You will be a self-starter and builder who thrives in change and is able to bring clarity and purpose to complex problems. You have a breadth and depth of transformation and consulting experience that gives you a strong foundation in modern multichannel commerce.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Identifying the most pressing ‘growth challenges & opportunities’ amongst ambitious C-suite buyers and developing the right offerings, products, solutions and capabilities to address these challenges.
  • Partnering with clients, client partnership teams and our crafts to deliver compelling commerce work and to support key growth accounts.
  • Ownership of Huge’s standards of what ‘good’ looks like for consumer brands operating across owned and third party channels.
  • Working with our partnerships function to maintain strong strategic alliances with core commerce partners.
  • Supporting Huge’s commerce go-to-market strategy by leading thought leadership development.
  • Developing relationships and build capability across the Huge global network, influencing teams, supporting existing account needs, and reinforcing strong ties between the commerce practice and our crafts.

What we’d like to see.

As a commerce SME you’ll partner across our crafts to help our clients drive growth in commerce through transformational customer experience, and growth through creation of new offerings. You’ll bring industry expertise - both market-facing insights and deep understanding of commerce operations - to some of our most compelling work.

Strategists at Huge sit at the intersection of business goals, user needs, and organizational capabilities. They are orchestrators and leaders; thinkers and doers. They can define a vision, a strategy backed by a detailed roadmap to achieve it, and roll their sleeves up to support teams in delivering against that strategy.

As practitioners they are expected to have deep experience in driving business transformation - whether through the specialisms of CX, marketing, commerce, technology and digital product, or innovation. They will have demonstrated and proven success in driving these types of transformations by working effectively with cross functional teams and building strong, trust based client relationships (Exec level / C-suite minus 1). By definition their past experience will have provided them with an effective level of commercial and operational acumen alongside their ability to think and work creatively.

To that end, we are looking for:

  • A proven subject matter expertise (10-12+ years) in the commerce space - including a broad understanding of digital commerce and CX, merchandising, marketing, physical retail, and retail operations. You understand what it takes to run a digital commerce business, from site merchandising to pricing and promotions, from content management to SEO, and are very deep in the digital product development space, from design and engineering to user research and site performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of commerce operations - how clients run their businesses and structure their teams.
  • Experience with scaled transformation initiatives that include commercials, people, process, technology, and managing for change.
  • Strong understanding of the key challenges and value levers for B2C selling across owned and third party channels.
  • Strong understanding of commerce and marketing data and an ability to build data-driven value cases.
  • Experience engaging with and presenting to senior leaders, especially VPs, heads of eCommerce, and leaders across marketing, customer experience, technology and retail ops.
  • Experience in multiple kinds of businesses (DTC, B2B, wholesale, physical retail, subscriptions) across various industries and scales.
  • A strong point of view on market and user trends in commerce.
  • Client-side experience is a plus, but not required.
  • A background in consulting or an MBA is a plus, but not required.
