As Okta continues to scale and evolve its Business Technology (BT) function into a product-led, automation-first organization, the Vice President of BT Strategy, Planning, and Transformation will serve as a key partner to the SVP of BT. This role is accountable for driving how BT plans, invests, executes, and operates—shaping both strategy and execution across the enterprise.
The VP will own core functions including strategic planning, operating model design, portfolio management, vendor strategy, and performance insight. They will lead the transformation of BT into a business-aligned, data-driven organization that delivers measurable value. This role also oversees the team that connects investment strategy to execution outcomes, enabling scale, velocity, and transparency across all technology functions
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute a multi-year BT strategy aligned with company growth, M&A integration, and product-led transformation objectives.
Set the long-term vision and transformation roadmap for how Okta’s BT organization operates as a scalable, product-based organization.
Define and continuously refine the BT operating model — including pod structures, global delivery constructs, and sourcing strategies that optimize for speed, scale, and capability depth.
Oversee BT-wide planning cycles, including the integration of strategic roadmaps, net-new resourcing, Value Management Themes (VMTs), and cross-functional operational priorities.
Drive portfolio execution transparency across BT, ensuring all strategic initiatives and product roadmaps are tracked, aligned, and measurable. Own and evolve the Atlassian Jira structure to provide end-to-end visibility—from multi-quarter roadmaps down to task-level execution—enabling BT to operate as a unified, accountable, and data-driven organization.
Own and evolve the structure for BT, enabling visibility across the strategic and tactical portfolio. Ensure alignment of roadmaps down to the task level, and facilitate transparent progress tracking that can be shared across the enterprise.
Own the full lifecycle of BT investments, from business case evaluation through to contract renewal—ensuring strategic fit, value realization, and measurable outcomes.
Architect a centralized, data-driven approach to software selection, vendor management, and rationalization—aligning platforms with capability needs and cost efficiency.
Build a metrics-driven culture focused on velocity, productivity, and cost efficiency, leveraging delivery throughput, cost per head, SLA compliance, and other leading indicators.
Lead BT’s talent strategy, identifying future skill needs, partnering with Finance to open and manage PIDs, working with HR on talent development plans, and setting KPIs that reflect capability growth and organizational health.
Build, lead, and develop a small, multidisciplinary team responsible for strategic planning and execution support, portfolio and transformation management, business operations and financial alignment, automation strategy enablement, and KPI/performance insights. Foster a high-performance, outcomes-driven team culture through coaching, feedback, and career pathing.

15+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise BT strategy, transformation, or corporate technology planning

Strong financial and strategic acumen; comfortable owning investment lifecycles and aligning resources to value

Hands-on experience designing and operationalizing Jira or similar tools to drive portfolio and delivery transparency

Demonstrated ability to distill complex initiatives into clear, actionable strategies that align with enterprise priorities

Executive presence, with the ability to distill complexity, influence senior stakeholders, and drive alignment

Familiarity with SaaS platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow, Atlassian) and enterprise vendor ecosystems

MBA or advanced degree in Business, Strategy, or Technology Management

Experience working in or transforming a global BT organization into a product-led operation

Exposure to Agile at Scale, value stream planning, and enterprise automation frameworks

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $310,000—$466,000 USDBelow is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
