The Head of Total Rewards is globally responsible for the strategy and execution of broad-based and executive compensation, benefits, wellness and global mobility. This role will be a strategic partner to the leadership team, developing innovative and equitable programs aimed at attracting and retaining world-class talent, while driving business results.

This individual will have proven experience implementing and leading total rewards within a publicly traded company environment and will have interacted with the compensation committee/Board of directors. The ideal candidate will have experience both within the technology industry, as well as within other industries, gaining a more holistic view of the total rewards levers that are successful in different environments. S/he will not only be adept at strategizing around the compensation nuances necessary to retain, incentivize, and reward a growing, globally distributed workforce within a competitive landscape, but also align with and drive the company's business objectives. The Head of Total Rewards will also be adept at navigating HR business process improvement, leveraging data and analytics to better inform decisions. The successful candidate will have the ability to build collaborative relationships and be a high-level strategic thinker capable of partnering with Pinterest’s senior leaders, as well as a hands-on, self-motivated, and goal-oriented change agent and people manager.  

 

What you'll do:

  • Act as a strategic partner to Pinterest's executive leadership team and the Chief People Officer (CPO) to define, develop, communicate, and execute the total rewards philosophy and strategy. 
  • Ensures all compensation and benefits programs align with Pinterest’s overall strategy, driving a high-performance culture that attracts, retains, and motivates top talent.
  • Support, and where applicable, enhance our enterprise-wide compensation programs, practices, processes, and systems; including company-wide philosophy evaluation, guiding principles for pay delivery, pay equity, job evaluation, job architecture governance, market intelligence, and the administration of the annual compensation cycle.
  • Manage and oversee the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and reporting of executive, incentive and equity compensation programs and initiatives across the organization. 
  • In collaboration with the CPO, manage all compensation committee related matters, prepare relevant materials, manage the meeting cadence/activities including oversight of the Committee’s compensation consultant and prepare the annual proxy, partnering with Finance, Legal and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Work in close collaboration with the People Leadership team and other cross functional stakeholders to ensure the total rewards programs, systems and philosophies are aligned with the total People strategy for Pinterest. As a senior leader on this team act as a partner and support to the HR business partners and other key specialist leaders.
  • Provide strategic direction, planning, and execution of Pinterest’s benefits programs globally including health and welfare, 401K/retirement, time-off and flexibility, disability plans, and other various incentives.
  • Manage the effective communication of compensation, benefits, and wellness programs to achieve employee awareness, understanding, and appreciation of program offerings, partnering with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with legal and finance to ensure accuracy and insight on all compensation matters.
  • Ensure all programs are administered in compliance with applicable SOX requirements and local statutory regulations including the management of all compliance filings, reports, and audits related to the administration of employee compensation programs.
  • Leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of total rewards programs.
  • Oversee global mobility and immigration programs ensuring seamless and efficient operation of Pinterest's talent 

 

What we're looking for:

  • Proven track record of leading and implementing total rewards strategies within publicly traded companies
  • Experience interfacing with Compensation Committees and Boards of Directors 
  • Strong working understanding and experience with respect to public company reporting requirements 
  • Extensive experience within the technology industry, with additional experience across other sectors providing a well-rounded perspective
  • Demonstrated success in managing compensation nuances for a globally distributed workforce
  • Depth of exposure across all areas of the total rewards function, from executive compensation, incentive programs, broad-based compensation, to benefits, etc.
  • Experience with all aspects of M&A (due diligence, integration, etc.) 
  • Skills:
    • Proven ability to lead through rapid growth
    • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with senior leadership and Board-level audiences
    • Proven ability to manage complex projects and drive change within large, matrixed organizations
    • Proven leadership skills developing talent at all levels
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration up 1-2 times/month. A location near one of our US Hubs (e.g. San Fran, NYC, Seattle, etc.) is preferred.

Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
