Join us! The GoFundMe is looking for a dedicated WordPress Engineer, where your expertise in WordPress development will help drive the success of our fundraising platform. In this crucial role, you'll be tasked with developing, maintaining, and enhancing our WordPress multisite, ensuring dedication, availability, and scalability. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll help maintain our custom theme and plugins, perform site audits, and integrate third-party services to deliver an exceptional user experience. This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to a platform that empowers individuals to support causes they care about deeply.

The Job…

  • Help maintain the GoFundMe WordPress multisite, focusing on high performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Create custom blocks, templates, and plugins that meet our business requirements, adhering to the highest standards for security and code.
  • Work collaboratively with design, communications, non-US locale managers, and the marketing content coordinator to ensure a cohesive and scalable website.
  • Conduct regular audits for security, performance, and SEO, implementing necessary enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex WordPress-related issues.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in WordPress, coding standards, and web technologies to continuously refine our website.
  • Offer technical guidance and contribute to our team’s knowledge-sharing efforts.
  • Facilitate the integration of third-party services and APIs to augment website functionality and engagement.
  • Ensure all code deployed to production is thoroughly tested and of the highest quality through code reviews.
  • Engage in project planning, providing insights and estimates for development initiatives.

You are…

  • 2+ years of WordPress development experience, with a focus on custom theme and plugin development.
  • Proficient in front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery).
  • Strong skills in PHP and MySQL, with a keen understanding of relational database design.
  • Experienced with essential plugins such as Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms, and Yoast.
  • Proficient in version control (Git).
  • In-depth knowledge of website security, performance optimization, and SEO best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with responsive and adaptive design.
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
  • Proficient with FIGMA.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

We would like to see…

  • RESTful API integration experience.
  • Experience with headless CMS (e.g., Headless WordPress, Contentful).
  • Knowledge of React and other modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Familiarity with M-Particle, Google Analytics 4, and other analytics tools.
  • Experience with localization tools, such as Smartling.
  • Familiarity with LOCAL (by WP Engine) for local development.

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $95,000 - $135,000 + equity + benefits.  As this is a remote position, the salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
