About the Team:

The Operations & Manufacturing department at Tools for Humanity is responsible for all aspects of driving the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics,Physical Security, Field Operational Compliance, and Technical Support of our world-class hardware devices reaching billions of people globally. We are a rapidly growing, highly cross-functional team that strategically partners with industrial design, optics, software, market operations, and the finance teams to define product requirements and execute on development. About The Opportunity:

Tools for Humanity is looking for a Working Student to assist in developing, testing, and validating our flagship hardware devices, including the Orb. This role will work closely with Engineering Hardware, Manufacturing, and Industrial Design to support the creation and production of cutting-edge technologies at scale.

 Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, design, and implementation of electrical systems and circuits.
  • Support the creation of circuit layouts and designs using E-CAD (Altium).
  • Assist in research and development of hardware changes.   
  • Help with the qualification, verification, and validation of developed hardware.
  • Conduct measurements with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other measuring equipment under supervision.
  • Assist in commissioning and repair of PCBs.
  • Support the programming of microcontrollers in C with real-time operating systems for testing and applications.

About You:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar qualification.
  • Basic experience in planning, circuit development, and layout creation with E-CAD, ideally Altium.
  • Familiarity with measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Basic soldering experience in the assembly and repair of electronic assemblies.
  • Fundamental programming skills in C for microcontroller development.
  • Good English proficiency in both spoken and written form.
  • Strong drive, proactive attitude, and solid work ethic.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Knowledge in the development and integration of embedded Linux systems.
  • Knowledge in Python for automating testing procedures and development tasks.
