About the Sports Business Practice:Prosek’s Sports Business Practice operates where sport, finance, and enterprise value meet. As demand increases from leagues, teams, ownership groups, investors and sponsors, we are expanding our team with strong strategists and operators who can support exceptional client delivery and help grow our presence across the global sports ecosystem.
Overview:We are seeking an Associate Vice President with strong sports and business fluency, excellent writing and media instincts, and the ability to manage day-to-day client programs. This role will support senior leaders on strategy while leading execution across narrative development, media engagement, and thought leadership.
What you’ll be doing:
Client Strategy & Narrative Development
- Support discovery and research to inform messaging and strategic recommendations.
- Draft narratives, messaging, and thought leadership for executives and brands.
- Translate business, cultural, and industry trends into compelling storylines.
Media Relations & Visibility
- Pitch and secure coverage across business, finance, and sports media.
- Build and maintain media relationships with relevant reporters and editors.
- Support media training, briefing docs, interview prep, and speaking opportunities.
Program & Account Management
- Lead day-to-day program execution and client deliverables.
- Manage timelines, workstreams, reporting, and project coordination.
- Anticipate client needs and recommend proactive ideas and opportunities.
Practice Growth & Market Development
- Surface cultural and industry moments that create relevance for clients.
- Contribute to new business research, proposals, and pitch materials.
- Represent Prosek at events, convenings, and within the broader sports ecosystem.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor analysts and associates; foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Model Prosek values: grit, humanity, entrepreneurialism, shared ownership.
- Embrace and advance AI-enabled workflows to drive quality and efficiency.
What success looks like:
Within 12 months, the successful AVP will:
- Serve as a primary day-to-day lead on several client accounts.
- Deliver strong media results and consistently develop high-quality content.
- Build growing relationships with priority reporters and editors.
- Contribute meaningfully to new business efforts through research and insights.
- Strengthen Prosek’s visibility across the sports business landscape.
- Adopt and champion AI tools that enhance team creativity and productivity.
What makes you qualified:
- 5–8 years of experience in strategic communications, PR, or brand storytelling.
- Experience in or adjacent to sports strongly preferred (league, team, brand, sponsor, agency).
- Strong writer with excellent judgment and an instinct for narrative development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs, lead workstreams, and work directly with senior clients.
- Proven earned media results with relevant business, finance, and/or sports media.
- High EQ, service-oriented, and comfortable in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments.
- Familiar with AI tools and excited to build new approaches into daily work.
Preferred experience:
- Communications roles at sports leagues, teams, ownership groups, or sponsors.
- Experience at agencies supporting sports or business-focused clients.
- Brand, partnership, or storytelling roles within the broader sports ecosystem.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000. An employee's salary is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is one component of Prosek's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, new business commission, paid time off, and other benefits.
