This role sits within the Billing Analytics team within Energy Operations and focuses on supporting our Operational teams to recover and mitigate Settlement and Billing costs and performance.

The purpose of this space within Industry and Billing Ops is to utilise data to understand our performance, highlight areas to focus on, as well as building processes to drive Billing fixes. You will support in maintaining a backlog of work, and prioritising areas dependent on the demands of stakeholders.

This role in a nutshell:

You will manage a small team of motivated data analysts whose goal is to interrogate our data and generate insight, driving the department’s tactical decisions and striving to improve the accuracy of our customers’ bills. You will lead from the front, producing best in class data storytelling to senior stakeholders while ensuring the team’s objectives and workload stay on track.

This role will also play a vital part in the development and refinement of user stories, analysis of the outcomes from changes, validation of data and supporting the migration of data.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Lead a team of onshore Billing analysts, driving development, performance and engagement
  • Balance team management whilst also leading by example when working on assigned tasks
  • Drive team development, upskilling and cross skilling, ensuring that data and process solutions can be trialled and embedded to keep pace with external innovation
  • Manage the balance of incoming work, versus Tech Debt automations and iterating delivered MVP solutions
  • Responsible for providing insightful analysis for the Operational teams, allowing us to understand root causes, focus areas and opportunities. 
  • Being responsible for managing the scoping and timely delivery of key projects and process deliveries. 
  • Help define user stories and their acceptance criteria, and manage backlogs and workloads across the team, strongly aligned to business strategies
  • Monitor work performance regularly and manage the teams velocity 
  • Be responsible for the data governance and best practices that align with the data strategy for the area
  • Be point of contact, and lead on providing commentary and reporting around our performance across all stakeholders, including at exec level where required

You’ll be a successful Billing Analytics Lead here at OVO if you have…

  • Strong knowledge of key data analysis tools and version control  including BigQuery, Dataform, GitHub & Tableau
  • Confidence in communicating significant data insights, confident in drawing out key insights to drive next action
  • Ability to resolve business challenges through value adding data insight
  • Strong experience in using data to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to operate, influence and collaborate at all levels
  • Experience of working in an agile environment 
  • Commercially astute, with a strong understanding of delivering value for the business needs
  • An independent thinker 
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring data analysts to make sure they reach their full potential 
  • Adaptable to change with experience working in a fast-paced, ambitious, customer focused environment
  • The ability to see the bigger picture and understand how a wide range of analytical outputs link together
  • Sound understanding of customer Billing journey
  • A further understanding of other programming languages e.g. Python
  • A strong understanding of software development and system automation  
  • Experience working with complex systems\ large numerical datasets and full life cycle experience
  • A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in data analysis or related discipline

We’ll pay you between £43,500 and £50,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
