You will be working within the Energy Transition Finance team reporting to the Commercial Contract Manager, who works with OVO’ s Meter Asset Providers (MAPs) and Smart Operational teams to manage third party performance  and reporting and cost control.

The Smart Operational teams oversee all smart electricity and gas industry processes, including the resolution of issues with dataflows and technical support for Smart metering. 

The extent of our contractual relationships cover, but is not limited to:

  • Meter Asset Providers (MAPs) 
  • 3rd party device (IHD/CAD) manufacturers
  • Post Emergency Metering Services (PEMS)
  • Market Interaction Software and managed services (DCC)

 

This role in a nutshell:

This is a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave.  You will report directly to the Commercial Contract Manager to support in management and cost control of third party contracts.  You will also be responsible for managing and approving third party invoices.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Engaging with some of OVO’s key 3rd party partners and working with the relevant internal teams to aid the resolution of contractual issues effectively; the 3rd parties that will be required to be actively managed will depend on business needs over time
  • Taking a lead role in recovering the maximum amount possible for OVO: ensuring that the charges received are applicable; challenging the MAPs to agree with what has been disputed; negotiating with MAPs and driving the maximum recovery from these charges
  • Reviewing and managing the incoming MAP invoices as well as tracking and managing the debt/credit/cost recovery position with OVO MAPs
  • Working with OVO’s internal stakeholders to assist the Energy Transition Financing team to recover the maximum possible costs from our 3rd parties
  • Identifying and taking action to remedy key contractual performance issues that arise
  • Supporting the operationalisation of contracts, ensuring that what’s agreed in a contract can be delivered operationally and when appropriate, taking a lead in the contractual activities with our key partners
  • Identifying additional ways to ensure value for money is delivered in the contracts - including recommending contractual change and process improvement across any aspect of your role

 

You’ll be a successful Commercial Contract Lead here at OVO if you have…

  • Experience of managing invoice processes with third party suppliers
  • Experience working with Finance teams to manage debt and credit positions
  • Excellence in use of Excel/Google Sheets
  • Experience of electricity and gas data-flows to the extent that they impact MAP rental & other costs
  • Experience of managing third parties
  • Experience working in a numerate role with a high attention to detail
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment where prioritisation is required
  • The ability to hold external parties accountable
  • Confidence in presenting information to various levels of stakeholder and external parties
  • Passion about what you do and are highly driven to achieve your professional & personal goals
  • An understanding of the energy industry and the contracts held with external parties (although this is not essential)
