About the job

 

Twilio’s Lookup product helps to transform phone intelligence data into trusted interactions.  Lookup enables customers to build onboarding and engagement experiences that improve delivery and mitigate risk seamlessly without user input.  

 

As a software engineering manager in the Lookup team in Twilio’s Communications BU, you will lead a team of talented engineers, bringing your unique leadership style to nurture and grow them. You will closely partner with Product to build Twilio’s Lookup & Identity products and will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with other leaders on engineering initiatives.  You will be empowered to improve how we work with your perspectives and how we build with your skills.  Join us as we build Twilio’s exciting future together!

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead a high-performing team of software engineers and help to retain a great team culture and connection.  
  • Provide opportunities for career growth and development. 
  • Mentor engineers to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • Partner with Product to prioritize and deliver projects with quality.  Manage dependencies and risks effectively.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define the technical roadmap and improve operational excellence.  
  • Guide your team in designing and building high-quality, scalable distributed systems, microservices and APIs.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels, both technical and non-technical, ensuring clear understanding and alignment. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Improve engineering processes, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency and team performance.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Engineering Management with a track record in building and sustaining high-performance teams.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience building enterprise customer-facing products.  
  • Experience working with Agile/SCRUM methodologies. 
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience working with highly scalable, fault-tolerant, large distributed systems and microservices architecture. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java and experiences with cloud platforms like AWS. 
  • Excellent communication skills; must have professional proficiency in English. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience.

Desired:

  • Experience in developing RESTful APIs.  
  • Experience in building and operationalizing software solutions following compliance, privacy and security standards

Location 

This role will be based in Colombia - Remotely. Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.
