As a writer for our home technology team, you’ll work within a collaborative team environment to tackle a range of topics that affect our readers. You’ll partner with colleagues across the organization to contribute to a range of projects and topics, including priority categories such as home security and other modern home appliances, tools, and technology. You’ll write new stories on news and trends that impact and enhance the modern home, and also keep previously published best list-style pages updated with the latest information to help readers make sense of it all.
*Our ideal candidate will work in the office in a hybrid role; office locations include New York, Charlotte. We are open to remote candidates as well.
*This role is in a bargaining unit represented by a labor union, the Writers Guild of America, East.
What You’ll Do:
- Flex your top-tier writing and communication skills
- Join a collaborative team of writers and thinkers to research and write a variety of assigned stories
- Meet assigned deadlines (varies)
- Partner with subject-matter experts and SEO teammates to innovate and create quality content
- Work within our CMS to publish your work
- Think creatively and flexibly about tasks and challenges
- Embrace feedback from colleagues to become a pivotal member of a growing team
What We’re Looking For:
- BA or above in Journalism, Writing, English, Communications or commensurate
- 2+ years of experience writing and updating consumer-facing content in the home category
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, self-motivated, collaborative attitude with managers and colleagues
- Ability to pivot quickly among different projects
- Team player who is quick to raise a helping hand and apply feedback in the spirit of growth
- Curious, with a mindset for learning
- Career-ready and looking for a publication to call home
Compensation:
- Cash Compensation Range: $50,000 - $75,000**Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
