The Tax Operations team works closely with our clients, agencies, and internal teams such as onboarding, customer care, and banking. Our primary focus is ensuring compliance with payroll tax filing and deposits for our clients.

The Tax Operations Manager will oversee a Payroll Tax Operations team. The Tax Operations Manager  will oversee a team of Tax Operations Specialists that will manage client tax cases, file periodic tax returns, and work cross functionally to solve escalated issues. This position will serve to assist in creating and ensuring success of OKRs.

About this roll*: 

• Educate, manage, train, coach and mentor a team of 8-12 Tax Operations  Specialists 
• Monitor and audit workflow efficiency to identify trends and process improvement opportunities
• Regularly evaluate employee performance and ensure accountability.
• Drive team success of periodic Objective and Key Results (OKR)
• Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA) for tax related cases are met
• Provide subject matter expertise related to payroll and tax filing.
• Oversee Tax Operations process to ensure all client tax returns are filed efficiently and timely
• Responsible for ensuring original and amended payroll tax returns are filed timely, including monthly, quarterly, annual tax returns.
• Enhance payroll analytics and reporting capabilities to update stakeholders regularly and provide meaningful decision support for management
• Responsible for keeping abreast of Federal, State and Local regulatory changes and develops internal and external communications relative to these changes 

Do you have the right ingredients*? 

• 3+  years of experience in the Payroll/Tax field or closely related role
• 2+  years of people management experience
• Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills including ability to work with all levels of Management
• Experience working with Escalated Clients
• Proficient with filing original & amended payroll tax returns
• Experience working with tax authorities and understanding the tax notice/resolution process end-to-end
• Solution-oriented with proven ability to drive results
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Special Sauce* (Non-essential Skills/Nice to Haves)

• Experienced with MasterTax is a plus
• FPC or CPP Certification
• Payroll Service Provider Experience Preferred

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$88,000—$141,000 USD
