We are looking for an experienced Marketer to join our expanding business in Japan. Based in Tokyo, the Japan Marketing and PR manager will manage and execute the marketing and PR strategy for the Japanese market. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, APAC, you will work closely with the Country Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver winning results.

 

What You Will Be Doing 

  • Develop, manage and execute the regional marketing and communications plan to target.
  • Grow Mintel's brand awareness and media profile across key regional markets.
  • Deliver and oversee lead generation and lead management for Japan.
  • Manage and nurture a small team.
  • Oversee and manage relationships with key media contacts through proactive outreach.
  • Proactively identify trends and pitch ideas to generate media coverage.
  • Create and edit engaging content through press releases, blog posts, contributed articles, and social media channels.
  • Own and manage the Japan press release, blog, social media, content marketing schedules and event programs. (Including webinars, trade shows, speaking engagements and client workshops.)
  • Develop, facilitate and deliver excellent internal and external communications across the business, supporting regional/global PR and Marketing activity and corporate crisis management.
  • Manage the localisation of global marcomms initiatives.  
  • Employ a creative and proactive approach to work, with the ability to see the 'bigger picture' and bring new ideas and initiatives to the team to raise the corporate profile.
  • Coach internal analysts on effective media interaction.
  • Regularly monitor team KPIs and goals and report back to the business on the success of activities, focusing on building awareness and generating ROI.

 

Who We Are Looking For 

  • Eight or more years of public relations and marketing communication experience in Japan, either in an agency or corporate setting.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent  
  • Confident, professional, persuasive and enthusiastic personality with the ability to deal with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience managing a team.
  • Proven relationships with high-level media contacts.
  • Experience pitching to the press (via email, phone and in-person).
  • Proven experience in building a brand via public relations, and marketing communications. 
  • Exceptional Japanese written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organisational skills and good work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and disseminate data quickly and effectively. 
  • Proven strategic, planning and multitasking skills.
  • Track record of high performance under pressure and adherence to deadlines with a quality product.
  • Understanding of working within a corporate structure for approval processes.
  • Proven team player, able to play a key role in a Global team.
  • Experience of working within CRM and Marketing automation environments
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, working knowledge of SalesForce and Marketo; efficient in data mining and analysing with actionable insights
