We are looking for a high performing, organized, and driven Senior Accounting Associate to join the International Finance team. This role will perform a variety of accounting duties to support the Finance Department across two brands (Harry’s and Flamingo), two channels (Focus on Retail with some overlap into DTC), and geographies including UK, DE, and NL (for now!). This role will own accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, review inventory functions, and month-end close processes.
We are looking for someone who has an appetite to learn and apply both their technical and soft skills as this role requires a high level of organization and willingness to work cross functionally. Furthermore, pushing their understanding to analyze data to help support the Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities/ What you will accomplish:
Ownership of Revenue
- Ownership over the processing and posting of customer revenue invoices, credit notes, and cash receipts
- Ownership of accounts receivable and ensuring that cash is collected on a timely basis
- Reconcile customer accounts
- Research and resolve any invoice discrepancies
- Generate statements and follow up on past due accounts
- Support the credit and collections process
- Ensure AR activities comply with company policies
Accounts Payable
- Supports the accounts payable function
- Follow up with stakeholders for approval and further questioning on invoices which includes tracking for accruals processes
- Review and process vendor accruals for the retail team
- Ensure accurate application of cash discounts and payment terms
Ownership of Account Reconciliations
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts including prepayments, accruals etc.
- Research and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies
- Maintain organized records of reconciliations
Ownership of Inventory Analysis
- Review of GR/IR schedules to ensure they are as low as possible
- Review of Month end Stock Reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Review of Product COGS and swings that would impact financial results
Month-End Close
- Prepare monthly journal entries across brands
- Complete account analyses and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with Margin Analysis and Forecasting
- Meet month-end close deadlines and requirements
Financial Reporting
- Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports for the internal finance team
- Assist with compiling data and reports for financial planning
- Provide commentary against forecast and month over month to ensure accurate postings and information
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows
- Implement new processes and procedures as required
- Strong ability to write down steps and follow along with processes to ensure own understanding which then creates better process improvements
Relationship Management
- Develop strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders specifically the retail team especially in a hybrid work environment
- Provide excellent customer service when responding to inquiries
- Communicate effectively on a timely basis utilizing slack, email and in person forms of communication and maintain composure under pressure
- Attempts to self solve as much as possible to come back to the internal finance team with thoughtful questions
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, or AAT student required
- relevant experience in a similar accounting role
- Intermediate accounting knowledge and technical skills
- SAP and/or Concur experience is a bonus but not required if familiar with other ERP systems
- Proficient with MS Office and knows how to use basic Excel formulas such as sumif, vlookups etc
- Proficient with Google Suite
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Ability to work independently and be a team player
- An appetite to always be learning and developing
