Senior Composite M&P Engineer
Your role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials and Processes Engineer with thermoset material knowledge who is eager to support various structural design efforts, including material and process specification update, review part and assembly drawings, and provide acceptance rational for commercial off the shelf (COTS) and Standard Parts, working closely with the M&P team. Specific responsibilities will include authoring and developing material and process specifications, and reviewing, checking, and/or approving part and assembly drawings to ensure that the safety and performance requirements for aerospace applications.
Your Day to Day:
• Support the Lilium M&P team with the development of the next generation aerospace eVTOL product, being responsible for expert guidance in composite material and process application for structural parts and assemblies.
• Provide engineering expertise for the specification development and certification for autoclave cured prepreg composite products using continuous reinforcement.
• Write specifications for ancillary materials for composite manufacturing.
• Perform statistical analysis from material properties database, following Lilium guidelines.
• Write Material Qualification Reports for Lilium´s Qualification Product Lists.
• Write test plans, reports, and specifications for non-metallic materials, as needed.
• Support various program needs as required, including design failure mode and effect analysis, generating the substantiation of non-conformance dispositions, and participation in root cause and corrective action analyses.

Your Profile:
• B.S. in engineering or science (i.e., chemistry, chemical engineering, material science and engineering, or similar) (Ph.D./ M. Sc. preferred).
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in an aerospace certification environment. Previous process qualification work in prepreg automated layup, joining techniques (bonding, fastening) is a plus.
• Experience with material and process selection is desirable, including establishing key process parameters and material properties.
• Strong understanding of material and process qualification, with robust hands-on experience in the engineering, design, and development of advanced aerospace parts
• Self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as individually.
• Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
