We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Analyst, to drive forward and contribute to our Data Governance roadmap. The ideal candidate possesses at least five years of professional experience in data management or highly adjacent data experience, and is able to balance pragmatism with strategy in order to maintain and improve the confidence our data analysts, data engineers and data scientists have when delivering client work.

What You Will Be Doing:

Own Mintel's Data Governance framework

    • Manage as a living framework, ensuring completeness, timeliness and alignment with broader business and/or data strategies

Driving forward the Data Governance roadmap

  • Take ownership of an existing data governance roadmap that balances risk with opportunity, and aligns with business goals to create more value from our data
  • Leverage your experience to extend the data governance roadmap, refocus on the highest priorities
  • Work with data teams to execute against the roadmap - speccing cases and championing the value of the work
  • Identify new Data Governance projects and lead the successful planning and delivery of complex project-level work
  •

Embrace collaboration

  • Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and facilitate the adoption of new standards, processes and working practices
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders, seek feedback and adapt project-level goals and plans to new information or priorities
  • Build relationships as a trusted partner with internal stakeholders and clients. Be seen internally as an expert in Data Governance

Training

  • Foster a culture of data awareness, champion change and enable partners across the business to get the most value out of Mintel's data possible

What We Are Looking For:

  • Self-Directed: You take initiative to solve problems and uncover opportunities, and you are eager to take ownership and accountability for the growth of our products.
  • Experience with Data Management: You have lived the success of data managed well and the pain of data managed poorly. You have experience working within a data governance framework, managing enterprise data, handling data quality concerns, and addressing data privacy practices.
  • Pragmatism: While you strive for greatness, you are not willing to let perfect be the enemy of good. You are able to recognize that a small step towards better is worth celebrating, even if it didn’t take you as far as you would have hoped.
  • Data-Driven: You understand the concepts of a data analytics lifecycle from requirements gathering through technical analysis to delivery and are able to rapidly organise information, draw conclusions, identify patterns, and succinctly communicate key points and translate your knowledge visually.
  • Great Communicator: You are an effective communicator who can discuss difficult technologies while also focusing on the audience to tailor discussions.
  • Naturally Curious: You are naturally curious, looking for new opportunities or technologies that could elevate yours or others work.
  • Committed to Personal Growth: You are committed to continuous learning and growth, constantly pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone to develop your skill set.
  • Commercially-Minded: You are dedicated to quality, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in your work to elevate our products.
  • Tech-Savvy: You have experience with Snowflake or other data storage and querying technologies, along with excellent SQL skills and the ability to find insight in complex and/or imperfect data.  You also have exposure to modern BI platforms (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.) and an understanding and appropriate application of data visualisations along with experience in data modelling.
  • Humble: You are humble, yet confident. You willingly admit when you need help, and you know how and when to utilise the resources and people around you. You are also willing to share your own knowledge for the benefit of the team.
  • A Collaborator: You bring an energy to the table that encourages and develops internal relationships. You seek out opportunities to collaborate with peers in your department and across the organisation.

What you'll get in return:

  • A culture that supports true collaboration whilst embracing remote working with a company wide hybrid working week.
  • Approach to personal development where we encourage individuals to grow and share what they’ve learned.
  • Social events, both within the department and across the company
  • Generous holiday allowance with the opportunity to buy back additional holiday.
  • A day off to celebrate your birthday
  • Giving back is part of our culture with this in mind Mintel gives each employee 2 days per year to give to a worthwhile cause.
