The Management Accountant is responsible for completeness and accuracy of monthly management accounts for AKQA’s London and Sweden offices. This position requires strong technical abilities and operational awareness.

This role also requires a high level of flexibility for taking on other tasks and a willingness to get involved in varied day-to-day issues as they arise.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Working alongside SMA in preparation of the monthly Flash Income Statement including the ability to analyse accounts and understand activity within the month providing commentary on all material variances.
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations – including ability to investigate reconciling items and ensuring correct classification of assets and liabilities.
  • Assisting to prepare monthly month end packs for both studios.
  • Monthly Intercompany reconciliation ensuring intercompany accounts have been reported and agreed between parties in a timely basis. Be able to provide a synopsis for any mismatches at month end.
  • Raise monthly intercompany invoices for both studios.  
  • Perform bank reconciliations in multiple currencies.
  • Prepare and process month end journals/reclassifications.
  • Provide coding for invoices as needed.
  • Set up and maintain new Beneficiaries in our Finance System (MAS/Sage500).
  • Assist with internal and external audits – collating audit requests.
  • Submitting weekly Treasury reporting.
  • Monthly freelancer analysis.
  • Assist in input of all WPP group reporting requirements using ERP software (SAP BFC/Cartesis) within deadlines.
  • Prepare a monthly Gift Register for both studios.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS

  • 3 – 4 years’ experience in a Management Accountant role / similar is essential – with specific experience of having prepared monthly cost analysis. 
  • CIMA / ACCA Part Qualified desirable but not essential.
  • Strong excel skills, Experience of Sage 500 and BFC/Cartesis, preferable but not essential.
  • Professional excellence: advanced written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; high level of numeracy.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills, able to prioritise high volume workload and multitask as required to ensure completion within given time frames.
  • Presentation skills - ability to contribute to and deliver considered concise and relevant presentations to colleagues and clients.
  • Teamwork: proactively provide assistance to teammates outside of regular day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Quick to learn and adaptable to changing work allocation.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Proactive /enthusiastic with a can-do attitude.
