Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Software Engineer II at our facility in Boston, MA to design and develop resilient system for customer-facing web applications.

What You’ll Do: 

• Responsible for components of Chewy’s systems – both development and operational needs.
• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
• Be involved in design reviews and perform code reviews based on Chewy’s engineering rigor and standards.
• Debug production issues in Chewy services and tech stack. Measure and optimize the performance, effectiveness, and uptime of backend services.
• Local telecommuting permitted.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience.
• Experience must include 2 years in the following: an object-oriented language, such as Java;
• Software development in Java8/Spring Boot stack; and
• Cloud architecture and service development.
• Experience must also include the following: writing code or debugging issues;
• Professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations;
• Computer Science fundamentals – object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis;
• Working knowledge of design patterns;
• Designing, building and deploying features; and
• Domain knowledge in the area of ecommerce.
