The Wayfair Fulfillment and Delivery Network team is responsible for the systems powering dozens of warehouses across multiple countries and continents. Our systems are processing the inbound, storage, and shipping of millions of boxes per month.

We are looking for a passionate engineer who loves to solve complex problems, learns fast, and shares knowledge to join our team in Berlin and help us build and optimize the systems responsible for shipping more than 1MM boxes every month across our global network of warehouses.

Our tech stack revolves around Java, PHP, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, MSSQL, Postgres, and Kafka.

If you love to solve real business problems at scale, in a fast-paced, high growth and agile environment, this is the role for you.

Your role at Wayfair

  • Working in a highly collaborative environment interacting closely with other software engineers, product managers, designers, and operations to identify opportunities and implement solutions
  • Design and build extensible and scalable services that adhere to domain boundaries, with strong adherence to APIs, clear and enforced data ownership, and well-defined, visible SLIs and SLOs
  • Obsessively focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting
  • Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals
  • Continuously rethink and reevaluate the status quo, even when it argues with your/our past ideas

What you bring to the table

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience, experience in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based, and event-driven systems
  • Experience with Java or other OOP language - like C#, along with an interest in transitioning to Java
  • Deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience implementing both asynchronous message-based communication and synchronous ones such as RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes for build and deployment of various applications
  • Great communication skills and the ability to support technical decision making with the team
  • A track record of delivering in increments and learning as you go

And finally, our proposition to you!

  • Highly competitive compensation packages
  • Medical insurance & pension plan
  • Commuting schemes
  • Extensive internal training platform
  • Health & Sport memberships
  • Caregiving benefits
  • Wellbeing Program for our employees and their families
  • Variety of time off and leave program options
  • Employee discount for Wayfair purchases
  • A vast community of ERGs supporting our employees and making Wayfair an inclusive space for us all
