This role is based out of our Munich office on a flexible hybrid schedule, 2-3 days a week. 

 

About the Role:

Tulip's customers collect and analyze data with high fidelity and contextualization. At the core of this is the Analytics part of our product. We are looking for a technical leader to pilot this team. The team’s work is front-end heavy but there are parts of our back-end services that the team owns as well. As team lead, you would be tasked with guiding the team to solve tough technical challenges while helping individuals and the team as a whole to grow. The work happens in lockstep with our product and design teams as well as the adjacent engineering teams which are building and supporting our database and machine learning solutions.

 

About You:

You possess high levels of technical talent, programming skills, people management skills and a keen desire to deeply understand our product. You have honed your technical skills through years of building and delivering web-based products, then figured out how to make the jump over to building teams. You are a motivated self-starter, ready to roll up your sleeves and dive right in and lead from the front.

You also love collaborating across the organization with hardware, product, design, and customer teams on key projects. You’ll work with the other engineering leads to cultivate and grow our engineering culture. You are passionate about databases and building a highly robust event sourcing system which is capable of handling tens of thousands of events per second.You’ve:

  • Built large web products in past roles (specifically user-facing products)
  • Worked across the web stack, architected systems
  • Have a good understanding of front-end technologies and UX
  • Are interested in data visualization and business intelligence (BI) tools
  • Helped mentor and grow people
  • Built a cross-functional team that handled both technical improvements and customer-facing features
  • Worked with Product and Design teams to help scope work

 

What skills do I need? 

  • 3+ years architecting and building SaaS or web products
  • Ideally 2+ years leading a software engineering team
  • Experience with agile and/or scrum methodologies
  • We don't require experience with any specific technologies, but we currently use React, Redux, NodeJS, Golang, Electron, MongoDB, Postgres
  • Bias for action and impact

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in building products and delivering value to customers
  • Build a diverse team while encouraging a collaborative and encouraging environment
  • Create and manage a roadmap for product releases and updates
  • Manage products through all stages of SDLC
  • Manage a team through Agile processes and procedures
  • Provide technical design insight as well as solution architecture planning
  • Work with other engineering leadership to align on priorities
