As a Sr. Internal Communications Manager, you will be a trusted advisor, storyteller, and communications guru who’s passionate about how we can help our people cut through the noise and find creative ways to engage with a diverse global community. You will shape how we live into our Principles by executing our cohesive communications strategy so our colleagues feel informed, heard, and connected to what’s happening at HashiCorp as we enter our next phase with IBM. This role is a unique opportunity to impact our mission, help manifest our company culture, tackle the unique challenges of maintaining close communication in a scaling tech business during an acquisition, and help build an inclusive, engaged global company. Reporting to the Internal Comms lead, you will align and work closely with senior leadership, cross-functional partners, and our wider corporate communications team. 

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Craft an internal communication strategy for the R&D organization and build specific programs to deliver employee information and foster related conversations that meet company goals and employee needs. Partner closely with the R&D leadership team, executives, and other company leaders to deliver these.
  • Work closely with the R&D team and others while running ongoing communications programs like the R&D All Hands meetings, product updates, team priorities. Ensure these programs are well thought out, clear, set the standard for following the HashiCorp culture and principles, and are expertly executed.
  • Write and develop messaging around a variety of topics, including company-wide strategies, announcements, All-Hands presentations, executive talking points, FAQs, change management, and an internal knowledge base.
  • Create programming for the R&D organization that resonates across different teams and locations, including end-to-end management and logistics. 
  • Partner with key stakeholders, leaders, and program managers, serving as a trusted advisor across the organization to ensure that all internal communication is aligned with business objectives and supports the company’s priorities, culture, and strategic imperatives.

What you’ll need (Minimum Qualifications):

  • 8+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Must have worked closely and interacted with executive leaders in a communications role. 
  • Experience working within or supporting R&D, product development, or technical teams, with a strong understanding of the unique communication needs in a tech-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with technical terminology and the ability to translate complex product or research concepts into clear, engaging messaging for various audiences.
  • Proven track record of managing communications for technology-driven initiatives, product launches, or R&D milestones, with the ability to align messaging to the strategic goals of technical leaders.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a proven ability to translate complex ideas into digestible and compelling messages for various audiences. 
  • Experience creating, launching, managing, and spearheading communication plans/campaigns and analyzing metrics to ensure future improvements.
  • Excellent, proven project management experience.
  • Experience leveraging internal communications tools and platforms to foster engagement and collaboration in fast-paced, innovation-centric organizations.

What’s nice to have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Prior experience working closely with engineers, developers, or data scientists to gather insights and craft internal narratives that resonate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding the product development lifecycle and ability to tailor communications to different phases, from ideation to testing and market release.
  • Experience developing communication strategies during mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or other organizational changes, especially within an R&D context, ensuring clarity and continuity throughout transitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to support R&D leadership in crafting and communicating strategic initiatives during times of growth, restructuring, or change, with a focus on fostering alignment and collaboration.

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.

The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$147,900—$174,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), Washington D.C., or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:$135,600—$159,500 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$123,300—$145,000 USD
