About the role: 

Liftoff is seeking an Accounts Payable Managerthat will own the development of a world-class payables operation. This new leader will work cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and our Publisher Partnerships team to scale our payments process, drive operational excellence, and support new growth and project initiatives.  Your vision, strategy, and process improvement skills will ensure we can provide a great vendor and employee experience, while supporting cash management and timely data to our financial statements.

The Accounts Payable Manager will be part of the Accounting Organization and report directly to the Director of Financial Operations. Location: 

This role is eligible for remote-first work in the Pacific & Mountain time zone.

  • US office locations: Redwood City (HQ), San Francisco, Los Angeles, Remote California. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coach, mentor, and lead a team in AP, T&E, and Publisher Payments.
  • Manage communication with cross-functional teams including Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, and cross-department leaders.
  • Approve all invoice coding and correct approval workflow through Bill.com before syncing into Netsuite. 
  • Review payment listings to ensure accuracy of invoice data while managing working capital initiatives.
  • Review monthly payments listings for all our publisher payments through Tipalti.
  • Manage the month-end close process for AP, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of reports for management
  • Monitor AP aging reports and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely payments and maintain good relationships
  • Supervise AP team, including providing feedback on performance, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ensure inquiries from vendors and other stakeholders are addressed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency & drive scalability; vendor onboarding, Invoice Entry QA, payment/invoice approvals, bank payments.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Financial Systems team to leverage payment tools to scale invoice entry automation.
  • Build-out reporting to measure success through KPI’s and provide visibility to leadership on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.
  • Assist the Tax & Accounting teams with year-end audit and regulatory efforts including financial statement audit requests and 1099 processing.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls including vendor management, invoice processing, cash management, and cash disbursements.
  • Manage non-vendor purchases including employee travel and expenses through Expensify and our credit card program.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in hiring and developing great teams in AP, financial operations, or a similar discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibilities in the tech industry.
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills required (Pivot Tables, Index Match, Sum If, etc.)
  • Experience with Netsuite, Bill.com, Tipalti, Coupa, Expensify or other leading payment platforms is a plus.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment including ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient while interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Extremely organized with good project management skills.
  • Comfortable with creating new processes from scratch.
  • Strong attention to detail, deadline driven, with strong organizational skills, and understands big picture concepts.
  • Senior presence with thoughtful, articulate communication style adaptable to the audience.
