Working as an Associate Product Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to transform digital experiences, platforms and tools. These help our customers identify, pay for and use the right products for them, in a way that suits them.

You’ll work with a talented team of engineers, researchers, experience designers and analysts. You’ll build data-driven and hypothesis-led customer experiences, which deliver against our business strategy. You’ll experiment your way to fulfilling customer needs and providing value, and you'll often be found story-mapping, canvas-filling, needs-assessing, optimising, stakeholder-managing and test-and-learning. You’ll work closely with the Head of Product and other Product Managers across our domains too.

This role in a nutshell:

We’re looking for someone who can challenge how things are done currently, pushing themselves and others to innovate to improve their approach to problems. An Associate Product Manager at the beginning of their product career, who is keen to learn and ready to get stuck into solving complex customer problems. A product career can develop from many backgrounds as long as you are a problem solver, can show stakeholder management and knowledge of product principles. 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Working with your product manager, you will feed into the product vision, strategy and roadmap throughout a product lifecycle for your area. 
  • Embed customers at the heart of product decisions.
  • Use data and customer-centric product techniques to create hypotheses to test, identify and solve problems and to simplify complex customer experiences.
  • Use online and offline insight - including research, customer contact, complaints and reviews - to inform your decisions
  • Focus on how to get ideas off the ground quickly - identifying the thinnest slice possible to achieve measurable customer outcomes.
  • Champion your product both in and outside your team - understand how it fits into the wider Product offering, how it could evolve and inspire your team to do more.
  • With support from your product manager you will set ambitious OKRs and take the responsibility to do what it takes to meet them.
  • Ensure that the solutions we’re building can translate to clear, positive impact on business metrics.
  • Compare third party products against product requirements to inform into vendor selection processes and buy vs build decisions
  • Establish clear priorities and find ways of articulating them with your own team and the wider business.
  • Get involved in our wider product community - using that as an opportunity to learn, get support from other like minded individuals and give back to the wider OVO team.

 

You’ll be a successful Associate Product Manager here at OVO if you…

  • Are comfortable with the ambiguity that comes from working in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing market needs
  • Understand the principles behind software development
  • Have a good understanding of Agile methods, cross functional working and development at different stages of the product life cycle
  • Experienced using optimisation tools, journey analysis tools etc. 
  • Are comfortable prioritising initiatives and ideas based on value and impact, and you can clearly articulate those decisions
  • Have foundational analytical skills
  • Are experienced in working in a matrixed organisation multiple stakeholders
  • Data driven in measuring the impact of what you build and have a track record of improving your customer’s experience. 
  • Experience in the energy and/ or of a highly regulated industry would be advantageous 
  • Experience digitising ‘offline’ customer experiences is a plus.
  • Are looking for autonomy and accountability to deliver great outcomes, while delivering value at the earliest opportunity
  • Find new concepts easy to understand, and show the tenacity to keep asking the right questions
  • Love sharing your skills and experiences with colleagues
  • Recognise assumptions (including your own) and seek ways to try and validate them

We’ll pay you between £39,170 and £45,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
