The Role: How you'll make an impact at Personio

This position can be based from our offices in Munich or Barcelona.

Payroll is Personio’s #1 strategic priority and growth driver. This role will be instrumental in delivering our ambitious growth objectives for this product, spanning the years '24-'26, in Germany and other key European markets. As a Business Operations Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading the operating model for the Payroll Leadership team, ensuring that we have the data and decision-making frameworks necessary to meet and exceed our business goals. This role will play a key role in laying the foundations for the newly established Cross-Functional Leadership Team, encompassing Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. Additionally, you will support the VP & GM of Payroll in establishing an operational rhythm to drive collaboration and accountability in our fast-paced execution environment.

Organizational Setup: This role will report directly to the VP/GM of Payroll (who reports to the CEO) and will be a member of the Payroll Leadership Team (formed by Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing leaders).

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

Business Performance Leadership:

  • Manage the reporting and tracking of Payroll’s business performance by developing a comprehensive dashboard with key OKRs and operating metrics, primarily focused on customer funnels.
  • Translate data into actionable insights that identify significant gaps and opportunities to surpass our business goals.
  • Develop mechanisms to prioritize and sequence Product and GTM investment decisions to achieve our in-half goals.

Cross-Functional Execution:

  • Drive the Rhythm of Business for the Payroll Leadership Team (across Product, Engineering, and business functions), leading the forum cadence.
  • Establish necessary mechanisms and systems to facilitate decision-making, promote accountability, and monitor progress across critical business initiatives.
  • Engage deeply in the most crucial projects and initiatives to achieve our goals, ensuring that functional leaders designated as Directly Responsible Individuals (DRIs) receive the necessary support to execute against established objectives and timelines.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process optimization to expedite and streamline decision-making.
  • Foster a collaborative culture among functional leaders, promoting and championing cross-functional cooperation.

Strategic and Financial Planning:

  • Assist the Payroll GM in identifying and defining key strategic initiatives for the in-half period to achieve our goals, while also refreshing and maintaining long-term foundations to meet multi-year objectives.
  • Ensure a comprehensive view of the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement and implement robust financial analytics and forecasting to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • Experience in a senior Business Operations role supporting a cross-functional leadership team, ideally in a growth-stage B2B business, or leading large cross-functional projects in Strategy Consulting.
  • Well-versed in ambiguous and constantly changing business environments.
  • Advanced analytical skills and data savviness, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Execution-oriented mindset and hands-on problem solver.
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English; German is a plus.
