Consumer and Design Researcher | Lonely Planet
To support our exciting business growth, we are creating the new role of Consumer & Design Researcher at Lonely Planet. Our goal is to help more people from more backgrounds experience the joy of exploration and this role will help by ensuring our products evolve to meet the changing needs of travelers. The Consumer & Design Researcher will conduct hands-on design research, as well as analyzing the wealth of third-party data available.
What You'll Do
- Starting within our books business, set up a new function within Lonely Planet to learn more about how travel planning is changing
- Create briefs for the book product team on how to improve existing product, and launch suitable product to new demographics based on consumer insight
- Test content, designs and products as they are prototyped to ensure they meet consumer needs and will drive growth
- Analyze Bookscan data, as well as the wealth of travel industry data published by third parties to ensure Lonely Planet books remain competitive and on-trend
- Develop and deliver regular insightful reports and presentations
- Teach your Lonely Planet colleagues the benefit of Consumer Insight, and help them use it to drive growth across media and products
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years of relevant consumer insight experience
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a relevant discipline (eg psychology, marketing, business, economics, statistics, finance)
- Hands-on experience in quantitative survey and qualitative / design consumer research
- Excellent analytical, presentation, communication and influencing skills
- Track record of contributing to demonstrable business growth
- Intellectual curiosity in ever-changing travel and media landscapes to stay abreast of industry trends and changing consumer needs
Compensation
- New York City Compensation Range: $93,000 - $115,000
- *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
