Mintel is looking for a Japanese copy editor (a high level of written Japanese is essential) to join our in-house Digital Publishing team, based in Tokyo. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly adapt to new CMS systems and have a keen eye for detail. The Digital Publishing team is responsible for publishing over 100 international reports each month as well as content for over 60 categories within Mintel’s range of global vertical platforms.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Primary responsibility will be copy editing Mintel’s Japan reports in the Japanese language. For this reason, an excellent understanding of Japanese grammar is essential.
  • Helping to maintain the Japanese language version of the Mintel Style Guide, ensuring it is kept up to date and its rules adhered to. 
  • Maintaining content on Mintel’s Reports website, ensuring all content is up to date and complete.
  • Liaising with our Japan analysts, ensuring that all content is consistent and adheres to one company voice.
  • Working closely with our internal translators.
  • Communicating with internal editors, translators and graphic designers to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Working to strict and demanding quotas and deadlines.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A university degree in Communications, Publishing, Japanese (if not a native speaker) or similar.
  • A research background would also help for this role.
  • Professional experience in copy editing.
  • Knowledge of publishing processes.
  • Good reading comprehension and typing speed.
  • Ability to visualise how content might look after being moved around or edited.
  • Solid eye for detail.
