We're looking for a talented, accomplished copy editor who is passionate about copywriting and editing. As a copy-editor, you'll ensure that writing is clear, consistent, and cohesive, and is well written, grammatically correct, and accessible. 

The right candidate is a wordsmith, creative, driven, not afraid to roll-up their sleeves, and has demonstrated an ability to solve real customer challenges and revolutionize the way people learn. This individual will need to be self-motivated, highly conceptual, willing to learn, receptive to feedback, and have what it takes to challenge the status-quo.

SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...

  • Understanding copy edit requirements and defining the scope of editing in terms of language, writing style, and technical nuances.
  • Collaborating effectively with the curriculum developers (in India and US) and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand the content.
  • Reviewing the content holistically from a flow and structure standpoint and making recommendations for a cohesive content piece.
  • Defining project specific style guides and language standards aligned to Pure Storage guidelines.
  • Engaging readers with informative, entertaining, and educational copy—be a storyteller.
  • Implementing the brand voice of the Pure Storage in writing style.
  • Correcting grammar and punctuation errors with complex editing text at various stages of the writing process, and in response to feedback from instructional designers or managers.
  • Keeping abreast of trends in content, grammar, and style reflected on popular workplace learning channels.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing assigned tasks. 
  • Having complete fluency in American English grammar, syntax, and conversational tone.
  • Providing constructive feedback in copy edit reviews and being available to clarify doubts.
  • Educating teams on variations in writing style based on the modality, English grammar, and new practices in writing.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • Degree in Masters in English or Communications.
  • 3-5 years of experience in copy editing and copywriting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and ability to make constructive suggestions.
  • Application of style guides, such as the Chicago Manual of Style, to different types of writing.
  • Have a strong attention to detail and be able to catch content redundancies and discrepancies.
  • Passion for creating scalable copy edit processes that elevate the strategic impact of language and writing.
  • Knowledge of content design and development processes.
  • Proficient in use of Google Suite applications.
  • Have basic knowledge of legal issues involved in publishing, such as libel and plagiarism.
  • You will be based in Bangalore, Karnataka. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location.
