Airbnb is seeking MBA and Master’s Degree students to join the Finance organization as a Data Analytics Intern for our 2024 Summer Intern Program from May 20, 2024 - August 9, 2024.

Global Risk and Internal Audit is an independent audit and advisory function. Their mission is to help Airbnb improve its operations by providing objective, insightful, and future-focused feedback through a systematic, disciplined approach towards evaluating the company’s risk management, control, compliance, and governance processes.

The difference you will make:

As an intern, you’ll get first-hand experience on what it is like to work in Global Risk and Internal Auditing at Airbnb. You’ll have the opportunity to: 

  • Develop insightful visualizations and analyses of audit data to identify patterns and trends that can inform business decisions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams in Finance, Engineering, and Security to ingest, analyze, and present risk insights in a clear, accessible manner
  • Create and maintain dashboards & reports in tools like Superset & Tableau
  • Define, design, implement, validate, and maintain data models and metrics to standards
  • Develop scripts or workflows to extract data from source systems, transform it to fit operational needs, and load the data into destination systems
  • Conduct research and analysis on industry trends and best practices to inform data analysis projects
  • Validate the completeness and accuracy of data ingested

A typical day:

During your internship you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel. You’ll be expected to:

  • Own and complete a capstone project* from beginning to end
  • Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
  • Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
  • Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Finance team and broader Airbnb community

*Important note: Your capstone project will be dependent on the team you are placed on. Team matching will take place towards the end of the interview process. You'll have the opportunity to learn about each team and project, and will be matched to the team that best aligns with your interest.

Your expertise:

This opportunity is for MBA or Master’s Degree (specializing in Math, Economics, Analytics, etc.) students enrolled full-time at a nationally-accredited university with at least one semester of school remaining after the internship that have the following skills and background:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate development, consulting, private equity, investment banking, or business operations
  • Strong organizational skills and process-oriented with the ability to define and execute projects with limited guidance and unclear scope
  • Experience forming strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders within and outside of finance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively through both written and verbal formats up to the executive level (e.g. Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance, etc.)
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to analyze complex data to distill insights and provide business recommendations
  • Experience with the following skills and tools: SQL, Python, data modeling, data extraction, data analysis and visualization via Tableau and/or Superset
  • Demonstrated interest in high growth, technology, and/or hospitality companies
  • Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT with 2-year STEM extension is accepted)

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience using tools that manage data and create data pipelines, such as Minerva, OpenAir, SparkSQL, etc.
  • Knowledge of Git

Our job titles may span more than one career or degree level. Our hourly intern rate is $40.00 (Master’s Degree) to $48.00 (MBA) per hour. This role may also be eligible for benefits and Employee Travel Credits.

Your location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
