Our Data team is growing!  We are looking for three student co-ops to join our team and help take our infrastructure, data modelling and automation to the next level!  Our Data Team supports HelloFresh Canada in delivering best-in-class data products to grow our business.  As our co-ops, you will focus on designing scalable and automated data flows using a variety of big data tools and platforms (AWS, Spark, Airflow, Databricks, etc.) and support the development of new data and automation infrastructure.  You will also provide support on driving analyses to inform strategic decision-making for product and customer-facing teams and be a key driver of documentation, training and data adoption efforts throughout the organization.

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for

  • Support the Data Engineering team in the maintenance of critical data infrastructure, pipelines and data flow processes, including troubleshooting issues in a timely manner
  • Work with the Data Engineering team in designing and executing architectural optimization of data infrastructure, with a focus on performance and scalability
  • Collaborate with data scientists, business intelligence analysts, and automation specialists to scope additional requirements for infrastructure improvements and support in implementation planning and execution of these improvements
  • Work with the Product Manager, Data to lead the design, build and deployment of solutions, including building data pipelines, maintaining and adopting infrastructure (e.g. databases, tools), and other data solutions into production
  • Support the engineering team with the migration and deprecation of legacy local systems/data stacks to better align to a global infrastructure and data strategy
  • Support in data quality, data governance and MDM tasks as needed, including the automation of these tasks
  • Lead the documentation of critical infrastructure, data systems, data tables, data flows, and other data artifacts for knowledge socialization, including engaging with and training stakeholders when necessary to drive data fluency and adoption
  • Define and document team best practices and train/coach stakeholders on leveraging infrastructure in optimal ways
  • Contribute to various analytical initiatives as needed, including customer segmentation, customer behaviour, whitespace analysis, cannibalization models, geographic trends, basket/cross-purchase analysis, etc.
  • Support the BI/Automation manager with building and publishing Tableau dashboards with relevant business metrics as needed
  • Support in the automation of reporting and analytical processes using various data tools (e.g. Python, GSheets, Excel, etc.)

Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, STEM discipline, or related field
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL, writing queries, and relational databases
  • Working knowledge of Python (functional and object-oriented programming), experience with data science libraries (pandas, scikit-learn, etc.), and understanding of programming for automation are all considered major assets
  • Experience using command line tools and version control systems (GitHub), cloud services, and working with APIs considered strong assets, along with experience with infrastructural tooling (e.g., Databricks, Airflow, Snowflake, AWS)
  • Tableau (or similar visualization tool) experience is considered a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience or propensity to leading analytical initiatives, working with team members to do so, and effectively communicating results to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to drive effective documentation with a focus on detail and effective cataloguing
  • Eager to learn new things and have the ability to pick up new technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
