Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer IIat our facility in Boston, Massachusetts, to serve as a member of Chewy’s IT Data Engineering Team to design analytic solutions for business users that provide the data needed to operate the business.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high volume, high-performance data structures for analytics platform.
  • Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes.
  • Participate in technical decisions and collaborate with talented peers.
  • Review code, implementations and give meaningful feedback that helps others build better solutions.
  • Write documentation on design, architecture and solutions.
  • Local telecommuting permitted.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field of study and 5 years of experience.
  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience.
  • Experience must include 3 years in the following: data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools;
  • integrating data between operational databases using data integration tools, such as Informatica, CloverDX, Datastage, Talend, Pentaho Data Integrator, SSIS, or AWS ETL tools;
  • data modeling in large Data warehousing, data lake environment; and
  • designing and developing scalable, high performing and fault-tolerant applications for large enterprises.
  • Experience must also include the following: writing software in Python or Java;
  • data warehouse design and data integration methodologies;
  • SQL, Vertica, Snowflake, Postgres, and SQL Server;
  • Spark, Flink, Databricks, Delta Lake or other big data engineering platforms experiences;
  • building on AWS using S3, EC2, ECS, Kenisis, DynamoDB, and Lambda;
  • data integration and common data integration challenges, including converting data types, handling errors, and translating between different technology stacks;
  • delivering high performance distributed systems in public cloud environments; and
  • performing analytics to solve complex business problems.
