As the Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting at MongoDB, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting and disclosure to our shareholders, regulators and the investment community. This is a high-impact position responsible for working with the Senior Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to oversee all aspects of SEC reporting, technical accounting and related internal controls. 

Key Responsibilities

SEC Reporting

    • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A for submission to the SEC, adhering to SEC reporting guidelines (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.)
    • Stay updated on evolving SEC rules and regulations, proactively ensuring compliance
    • Coordinate with the cross-functional teams (Legal, FP&A, Investor Relations, etc.) to manage the drafting and review of all external financial communications, including press releases and earnings call scripts
    • Act as the subject matter expert for the required (California) and proposed ESG requirements

Technical Accounting

    • Proactively identifying, researching, consulting and drafting technical memorandums on significant and complex proposed and/or completed transactions and issues
    • Act as global technical lead on strategic and complex transactions to identify accounting and reporting obligations or issues and assist with actions required for execution or implementation
    • Own the stock-based compensation and equity process
    • Assess the impact of new accounting standards and provide guidance on implementation
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate the accounting treatment of significant transactions and provide recommendations to senior leadership
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and evolution of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP while maximizing efficiencies and reducing barriers to scale
  • Collaborate on financial analysis and forecasting activities, working closely with other departments, including FP&A, Legal and Total Rewards to provide insights into business performance
  • Provide strong leadership to the SEC Reporting, and Technical Accounting team, fostering professional development and growth
  • Help cultivate a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the accounting team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in SEC reporting and technical accounting roles, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Experience with a publicly traded technology or SaaS company is highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting and financial information in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience with Workiva and NetSuite is preferred

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$129,000—$253,000 USD
