About the role

We are looking for a Director, Technical Accounting, Compliance, and Compliance to join our team. You will collaborate with accounting leadership and teams to develop technical accounting efforts, establish internal controls, standardize operating procedures, and lead special projects that support our growing global business. As an important resource for the Global Accounting & Reporting organization, you will provide expert guidance and consultation on a range of technical accounting matters, driving the success of the entire organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will:

  • Build the Technical Accounting and Compliance team from scratch.
  • Provide expert guidance on technical accounting matters, including interpreting IFRS and US GAAP standards, preparing accounting memos, and analyzing complex transactions across diverse markets.
  • Develop a global accounting policy manual to standardize practices across regions.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee the implementation of internal controls, ensuring SOX compliance and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Deliver training to the Global Accounting & Reporting organization and other teams to promote awareness and compliance.
  • Lead special projects that support our operational and financial reporting needs and help global growth and expansion.

This is a hybrid position. Employees are expected to work from the office 2 set days a week. We are considering candidates in both our San Fransisco and Dallas locations.

About You
  • 12+ years of accounting policy experience, with at least three years in the media and/or tech industry.
  • Experience working with an accounting or consulting firm, involving technical accounting consultations and SOX research in advisory roles.
  • CPA license (active or inactive)
  • Technical accounting knowledge, in revenue recognition, asset capitalization, content accounting, collaborative agreements, VIEs, M&A, and divestitures under IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Ability to apply accounting standards to real-world scenarios, conducting technical research, preparing memos, and developing guidance materials.
  • Experience working with an accounting or consulting firm, involving technical accounting consultations and SOX research in advisory roles.
  • Hands-on experience developing accounting procedures, implementing internal controls, and driving process improvement or automation.
  • A collaborative, approach with a commitment to building an inclusive, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring talent, and developing comprehensive training materials.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience).
