Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 16 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.

So, we’re building a new one.

We need an Engineering Lead to join our mission and help us build a global platform that’s scalable, reliable and secure. You’ll dive right into projects developing our purpose-built in-house service mesh and supporting infrastructure. This team has a wide remit on how we discover/connect/secure/scale our microservices and AWS estate.

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Lead with a passion for supporting people and finding impact through their team. They will be excellent communicators and have a track record of delivering impact.

In Wise, our Platform Engineering Lead position is responsible for guiding a specific domain from roadmap through to operation, as well as the people side of the team.

Our team Connect team sits within our Platform tribe at Wise, which designs, builds and operates the foundational technologies that power the product that moves £4bn every month.

How we work

We operate on a strong belief in automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We’re looking for people who can step back and think holistically about the ecosystem, but also follow through and help implement the design; drawing on the resources across the rest of the platform tribe.

As we grow, the requirements on our service mesh increase specifically around speed and security. We need to sustain this growth by continuously iterating on the products we provide, with a focus on availability, security, and convenience.

We’re looking for a lead with relevant experience who can understand complex requirements and deliver simple solutions. This enables our teams to achieve our mission, with speed and confidence.
