Pinterest personalizes millions of experiences by using machine learning algorithms to filter through our catalog of one hundred billion Pins to find the best, most relevant content for each Pinner. It is critical to measure the quality of the content recommendations across Pinterest and identify opportunities for improvement. The Discovery Measurements team’s charter is to develop company critical measurements about relevance, session experience, etc. for major Pinterest products, e.g. Search, Closeup, Homefeed, Ads, etc. through the power of human computation and artificial intelligence. As we look to scale these data platforms both vertically and horizontally, we’re looking for a strong Engineering Manager with backend experience and an interest in challenging data processing problems to drive the team to produce impactful deliverables that improve Pinterest products.
What you will do:
- Design and implement measurement platforms for organic and ad content in multiple Pinterest products
- Design and develop systems that allow to generate datasets for training machine learning models and product enablement
- Drive short term and long term vision for the team, expanding impact horizontally and vertically and while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering efforts for high impact technical initiatives
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of the members of the team
What we are looking for:
- Experience in one of the following languages; Python, Java or C++
- Familiar with large data processing and measurements. Interest in data mining / data platforms is a plus.
- 1+ year experience in leading a highly impactful engineering team
- 6+ years of experience in software development
- Curiosity for leveraging data and metrics to identify challenging opportunities and build impactful solutions
