About the TeamOur Global Record-to-Report (R2R) team is the backbone of SumUp’s financial integrity. We make sure every transaction across more than 30 legal entities is properly reflected, compliant, and auditable. Spread across Sofia, São Paulo, and Santiago, the team thrives on collaboration, process excellence, and a genuine passion for solving complex accounting challenges. We’re not a shared service centre — we’re an embedded, strategic partner to the business. You’ll be joining a close-knit, international group of finance professionals who care deeply about accuracy, automation, and making a measurable impact on SumUp’s growth story.
This is a pivotal leadership role in our global finance organisation. You’ll be the link between our operational accounting teams and senior finance leadership, ensuring that every decision is grounded in reliable, real-time financial data. This role offers the opportunity to not only run the core closing processes but also shape the way our finance organisation operates in the future.
What You’ll Do- Lead and develop a global team of R2R accountants (10+ colleagues across 3 locations).
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial closings across 30+ legal entities.
- Coordinate global audit and statutory reporting processes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally with Controlling, Tax, Treasury, ERP, Procurement, and People Ops to ensure smooth accounting for new business initiatives.
- Drive automation initiatives (e.g., payroll posting automation, intercompany reconciliations, and transfer pricing improvements).
- Champion continuous improvement, process standardisation, and team development across regions.
- You have 8+ years of finance experience, with increasing responsibility and scope.
- You’ve successfully led international accounting or R2R teams.
- You hold a professional qualification such as ACCA, CMA, or equivalent.
- You bring strong technical expertise in IFRS/GAAP and a proven track record in financial reporting and audit readiness.
- You’re confident navigating complex multi-entity environments and thrive on building scalable, automated processes.
- You lead with empathy, set clear expectations, and coach teams to grow and perform.
- You’re fluent in English and communicate with clarity and impact.
