Head of Americas PR
We’re looking for a seasoned PR leader with deep experience in corporate and product tech communications to lead PR in the Americas.
Leading a team distributed across our offices in Austin and New York, you’ll help us grow and make Wise a household name in the US and across the region.
You’ll do that by building a communications strategy that maximises the product news pipeline, delivers global corporate announcements and brings Wise to life with creative and innovative consumer and B2B PR campaigns to ensure that Wise is well known in the policy press, and consumer and business press alike.
You’ll be comfortable handling complicated or tricky issues when they come up, and working with journalists to ensure that Wise’s reputation is upheld. You’re not daunted by industry jargon or technical details and know how to dive into the product to understand the details, and then simplify them for your audiences.
You have a deep list of press contacts in tech, business and financial media. You’re proactive, creative and enjoy working in a fast-paced global team and organisation.
Key areas of focus for this role: Owning Americas Communications
- You’ll embed yourself within the NorthAm and LatAm cross-functional teams to own the news flow as our products grow in the region.
- You’ll build and drive the communications strategy for Wise, working with your cross-functional partners across teams including product, engineering and expansion
- You’ll build up and work with local spokespeople as well as company leadership
- You’ll leverage the media relationships that already exist, and are able to add more
Supporting Global Corporate Communications
- You’ll develop communications strategies that build awareness of Wise with influential national, business and tech media across the region, and handle issues when they arise
- You’ll proactively build and execute PR programs that build Wise’s reputation and drive product awareness and, ultimately, adoption - delivering substantial media coverage, meaningful speaking opportunities for our regional and global spokespeople, and creating new ways to help us make the media and public aware of the problem we’re solving and how.
Leading our team and measuring success
- You’ll lead our team of 3 and help them grow. You have experience coaching on functional expertise as well as the ability to manage business unit partners and agencies
- You know what a high performance team looks like and have clear metrics for individual and team success
- You believe in leading by example and are not afraid to get hands on, working side by side with the regional and global teams across the communications function and the broader organisation
- Driving strategic global team initiatives forward as a leader within the global communications team
What you’ll need:
- Strong, varied experience in corporate and product (consumer and/or B2B) communications. This could be in-house at a startup, tech company or in an agency. At least 12-15 years of experience, including in leadership roles
- Experience working in financial services or technology companies, with deep expertise in understanding complex technical products and issues
- Ability to scrutinise complex and technical data and complex concepts and turn them into simple and compelling messages
- Innate understanding of what makes a good story for media and how to secure great quality media coverage 一 along with existing media relationships, and expertise in building new contacts
- Experience working with company leaders and building the profiles of key spokespeople through speaking engagements, profile interviews, opinion and byline submissions and proactive pitches
- Deep experience creating and delivering creative awareness-driving campaigns across consumer and/or business media
- An ownership mindset with a hands-on, solutions and results driven approach
- Ability to work proactively, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth company
- A genuine, enthusiastic interest in our mission and developing and communicating great ideas to make financial services fairer
- Excellent written and spoken English

What is it really like to work here?
At Wise, we do things a bit differently. There’s no corporate nonsense and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in individually responsible teams. Each team owns how they want to solve the problems we’re working on together and gets on with it - so there’s no micro-management or people telling you what to do. You will get tons of guidance and support from talented, super-smart colleagues from all over Wise. The way we work doesn’t suit everyone. But, if the freedom to take on head-scratching professional challenges sounds interesting, we could be a match made in heaven.
