We want to make the world a better place and change people's lives through Monzo.This role is a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.  This role is all about amplifying 'Monzo Magic' and painting the UK hot coral through strategic brand marketing. You’ll build on what's worked so far, while also expanding and activating an enthusiastic Monzo community closely tied to our ever-evolving product roadmap.

As the brand leader, you'll shape brand strategy, foster brand development, and execute impactful brand marketing campaigns. Our audacious goal? To dramatically boost brand awareness, consideration, and equity. In essence, you're responsible for driving the growth and success of both the Monzo brand and our brand team.

This position demands unwavering creativity and innovation, embodying Monzo's unique mission and its disruptive influence in a traditionally staid industry.

What we are looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles managing teams.
  • Proven success in collaborating with Product, Design, and Tech, particularly within innovative, high-growth consumer businesses.
  • Exceptional people leader with a track record of coaching and developing high-performing marketing teams and creating strong followship.
  • Possesses gravitas, influence, and exceptional storytelling skills, capable of inspiring others on the journey.
  • Skilled at fostering team engagement and collaboration.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, highly regulated environments, comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to change.
  • Possesses a strategic mindset, excels in analytical thinking, and employs a structured problem-solving approach, while maintaining a results-oriented and hands-on approach.
  • Ideally brings experience or understanding of working in financial services or similarly highly regulated industries with multi-product portfolios and complex customer journeys.
  • Enthusiastically embraces a hands-on approach, readily delving into details when necessary. Demonstrates resourcefulness and pragmatism in finding solutions.

What you will be working on;

Brand Architecture

  • Own Monzo’s masterbrand strategy: Responsible for the strength of a unified brand strategy for Monzo that effectively ties together its diverse existing and forthcoming product range.
  • Champion brand positioning in practical terms: Drive Monzo's overall brand positioning across the organisation and establish practical systems to bring it to life for Monzonauts. Emphasise its role as a catalyst for business success with tangible, practical tools and systems. 
  • Facilitate strategic decision-making: Collaborate with teams across the company to ensure that the brand strategy informs and guides decision-making, especially in translating customer narratives and brand purpose into innovative products for future growth.
  • Evolve the thinking in line with business growth: Strategically assess Monzo's brand positioning, customer value proposition, and the overall customer experience at a regular cadence. Consider necessary adaptations, particularly in the highly competitive market and during international expansion.

Brand Planning

  • Lead brand marketing strategy: Drive the evolution of our brand marketing strategy for the next growth phase. Formulate an all-encompassing marketing strategy that comprehensively addresses the marketing funnel, with a distinct focus on boosting the brand and product presence within our rapidly growing digital business. 
  • Define annual brand marketing plans: Transform business objectives into a unique marketing vision and construct a robust, Monzo-relevant marketing plan. Clarify the intersection of brand, performance, and community.
  • Develop a comprehensive brand calendar: Create an extensive brand calendar covering cultural events, seasonal use-cases, and product launches.
  • Strengthen Trust and Connection: Nurture and fortify the customer relationship with Monzo, with a strong emphasis on building trust and fostering deep connections.
  • Support Balanced Growth: Skillfully support growth initiatives without compromising the development of a brand that aligns seamlessly with the company's mission and values..

Brand Campaign Execution

  • Mastermind and execute campaigns: Develop and implement integrated campaigns and partnership activations aimed at boosting brand awareness and consideration; collaborate closely with channel owners throughout the process to ensure a TTL experience. .
  • Lead agency partnerships: Take the lead in managing collaborations with top-tier creative, media, and brand agencies, while coordinating closely with internal teams.
  • Manage a range of stakeholders: Skillfully engage with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and secure necessary approvals and sign-offs for campaigns and partnership initiatives.
  • Responsible for hands-on troubleshooting: Dive into the details, proactively addressing any issues that may arise during campaign execution, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolution.
  • Ensure brand-consistent copywriting: Oversee brand copywriting to maintain alignment with Monzo's unique tone of voice and messaging.
  • Drive creative collaboration: Lead collaborative efforts with design and creative teams to bring ideas to life through visually engaging and compelling campaigns.
  • Foster alignment across the marketing org specifically: Promote collaboration with other marketing teams to align and deliver a seamless 360-degree customer experience.

Brand Research & Analytics 

  • Establish a robust analytics framework: Develop an efficient marketing analytics framework to evaluate the effectiveness of brand communication campaigns and rebranding efforts.
  • Set data-driven metrics: Ensure a data-driven approach by defining the appropriate metrics and KPIs for accurately assessing campaign performance.
  • Champion Brand Health Tracking: Supercharge insight from Monzo’s brand tracker, incorporating competitor and consumer insight research to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prioritise ROI optimization: Emphasise a data-driven strategy, continually track and optimise the ROI impact of all brand marketing and communication activities to maximise effectiveness.

The Interview Process:

Our interview process involves three main stages: 

  • Recruiter Call - phone call (30mins)
  • Initial Call - video call via Google Meet (30 mins)
  • Role Specific & Values interview - video call via Google Meet (x2 60mins)

Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks but we will always work around your availability.
