Agilisys is an established outsource provider offering contract IT services to the States of Guernsey. We are committed to delivering quality IT solutions and services to our clients, ensuring smooth operations of servers, networks, and end-user computing environments. As an IT Systems Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading our technical teams and managing resources to maintain high-quality IT services while adhering to SLAs and aligning with the technical roadmap and project delivery.

Role Description

The IT Technical Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and end-user computing systems for the States of Guernsey. The role involves team management, resource and capacity planning, technical roadmap development, and ensuring IT services meet or exceed contractual SLA requirements, are managed, secure and up to date.

 

Key Competencies:

Technical Expertise:

· In-depth knowledge of server administration, virtualization, and cloud technologies.

· Proficiency in managing complex networking environments, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

· Experience in end-user computing support, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and software applications.

· Understanding of cybersecurity best practices to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems.

· Security Vulnerabilities and patch management

Team & People Management:

· Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a diverse technical team.

· Delegate tasks effectively and foster a collaborative work environment to achieve team goals.

· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

· Experience of working in a matrix management environment

· Performance Management

Resource and Capacity Management:

· Develop and implement resource allocation plans to ensure efficient use of personnel and technology resources.

· Monitor IT system performance and identify areas for optimization and enhancement.

· Forecast future resource requirements based on business needs and growth projections.

Technical Roadmap Development:

· Collaborate with stakeholders to create and update the technical roadmap aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.

· Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations for system improvements.

IT Service Management:

· Ensure all IT services are delivered according to agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs.

· Respond to and resolve escalated IT issues promptly, keeping downtime to a minimum.

· Implement IT service improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.

Technologies:

The ideal candidate should possess expertise in the following technologies (but not limited to):

· Server Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux/Unix

· Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, Xen

· Cloud Services: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform

· Networking: Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN

· End-User Computing: Windows OS, Office 365, Microsoft Intune, Autopilot

· Cybersecurity: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Antivirus, Encryption

· Vulnerability and Patch Management: SCCM, WSUS, Autopatch

Personal Skills:

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

· Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities to address complex technical challenges.

· Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing environments, technologies, and business requirements.

· Time Management: Exceptional time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

· Customer Focus: A customer-centric approach with a commitment to providing high-quality IT services.

· Collaboration: Work well within a team and collaborate with other departments to achieve shared goals.

· Leadership: Demonstrate strong leadership skills, motivating the team to perform at their best.

 

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in computing discipline, Information Technology, or related field.

· At least 5 years of experience in IT systems management or a similar leadership role.

· Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, ITIL) will be an advantage.
