Key Account Manager Retail - France

SumUp card readers are available off-shelf in over 10.000+ stores and webshops across the EU at ‘Brick & Mortar’ retailers and e-tailers. In this role you will be part of the Retail team and report to the Business Development Cluster Lead France and Benelux, playing a key role in our ambitious retail expansion activities. We believe we are only at the beginning of our retail journey and we have identified a huge potential at our doorsteps that we need you to unlock. Our retail presence plays a key role in making SumUp’s solution easily available to business owners on every street corner, through strategic retail partnerships across the continent.

You will lead both our existing retail partnerships and expansion by identifying, engaging, negotiating and closing partnerships with other strong retail brands that will boost our distribution and brand exposure to new heights. To achieve this goal you will work closely with our retail team of Business Development Managers and Trade Marketers to get profitable deals in and live.

What you’ll do

  • Be responsible for our French Brick & Mortar Retail business by steering and growing our distribution network and getting SumUp on shelf at key retailers and e-tailers, growing our rotation, display share and product mix
  • Manage and engage top retail partners for France within Consumer Electronics, Cash & Carry, Office Supply and other verticals. You will be responsible for the sales cycle from first contact to the signing of the partnership agreement steering strong Commercial Plans across the year. In doing that you will be coordinating the French sales agents
  • Be empowered to do your job and have strong ownership over the strategy to grow the retail forecasts and performance for the given area/retailers/vertical
  • Establish long-term business relationships and strategic relevance with selected high-revenue /growth retail customers
  • Identify and execute opportunities to drive brand awareness, performance and market share within the area in retails.

You'll be great for this position if

  • You have a 5+ years of experience in business development, key account management or retail sales within FMCG or Consumer Electronics (ideally Fnac Darty, Boulanger or similar) within the French market
  • You have extensive Retail knowledge and network (Buyers, Distributors, etc)
  • You have strong negotiation skills, sales acumen and are trustworthy. Solid experience negotiating with buyers/retailer and sales agency coordination is essential for this role
  • You plan and execute complete and successful Commercial Plans with retailers, both on-line and off-line to secure maximum visibility and product rotation
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are results and data driven
  • You have strong written and spoken communication skills in English and French. Additional languages are a plus.
